U don't know how badly I want to call pix11 and tell them to stop giving this story more attention. Everyone (outsiders) are going to think that all cheer teams so straight ponytails and that's not the case at all.

I'm sorry but the only one holding the girl back from her cheering dreams is her mother. She refused to compromise. Why is ur daughters hair so special compared to others. And the way the phrased some things making this seem like a hate crime. It's ridonculous!!!

Welp. When I saw WE's statement I knew that someone would shade them for what sounded like the "I'm not racist I have black friends " card, but I kept my mouth shut.....this reporter went there.

This just makes me realize how so called "news journalists" people just "parrot" what they hear. They don't look any farther really than what the crazy woman is spewing, then jump on the bandwagon thinking they have this hidden treasure of racism that goes on the the cheer world they know nothing about. If they keep up and the story gets bigger, its only a matter of time until this woman is shown to be the manipulative, cray cray woman she is and in the long run, only her daughter will be hurt by her...if she hasn't hurt her chances of cheering again by now.

I can't imagine ANY team wanting this girl now, with a mother like that. The cheer world talks too much and it doesn't have to be on the 6pm news for them to know. This mother is poison to any organization now.
Want to bet that her next step will be to complain that no cheer gym in America will take her daughter because we must ALL hate curly hair?

The good news is with everything going on it hasn't made the news here... I haven't had to explain this to everyone I know (yet)!

Yipes. I'm glad my parents let me watch WWF (now WWE) when I was the target age for Barney.
We let DS watch WWF when he was the Barney target age, too. Well, until DH was home for work one day just before DS turned 2 and DH told DS, while Mommy fixes lunch let's pick up your toys.
DS: No, I watching TV.
DH: We need to pick up your toys.
DS: NO. Mommy will get them later.
DH (getting pretty pissed at this point while I'm listening in the kitchen trying not to LOL): We're going to pick up your toys NOW or I'm turning off the TV.
DS stood up, puffed up his little chest (he only weighed about 25 pounds): You turn off that TV and I'll kick your a**!

DH had to leave the room and I'm in the kitchen with tears rolling down my face silently laughing. Needless to say, that was the end of WWF for a while!

It's pretty doubtful IMO. Too much real news happening and history being made, our local news sources are far from lacking in content right now!

Yeah I've been waiting to see if you'd comment on this. My personal opinion aside, I've been wondering if there's more to what's going on at Mizzou than what's been mentioned in the media

I don't think the national news sources are doing the best job covering it. If you want the full story you should look into the local sources because they've done much more thorough coverage (partially due to the mere fact that it was local news before national news so they've covered it over a longer period).

We've heard all about it in Knoxville because were scheduled to play them in two weeks.

We need to trend the picture of the girl from primetime a few years ago. We all star cheerleaders don't care but you have to compromise and do so in a calm and collective way. Not by throwing tantrums like kindergarteners.
