I don't believe they had Worlds teams but this seemed like a good place to ask.

Anyone remember Pep Club out of KY? Whatever happened to them? I know they closed but did they merge with or become something else (Premier maybe?)

They merged and became showtime spirit, I believe it was.It didnt last long.

JMO but there is a difference between a gym that closed ie no longer exists vs a gym that merged or was bought by another gym. Most of these gyms while the program we once knew is gone, the gym itself is still open often under new management and financial backing.
Yes, there is a difference - You have CLOSED, which means this business no longer exist nor collect anymore money from cheer parents...
MERGED- Gym Owners no longer collect money in the former gym's name, but may work for the Gym that have taken them over, possibly with the same athletes join this gym...
ACQUIRED- Similar to merged, but the former Gym Owner may not be part of the new business plan and most of the athletes scattered too...

I heard Cheer Tyme Chantilly will be closing in 2016...

I wonder if the gym will just 'merge' with the Fairfax location? Not too many opitions for L5 athletes in the NoVa area, and Love is one of the few options for people not trying to commute to Maryland for cheer.

I was thinking that would be what happens if this rumor is true. Especially for L5 athletes. The only gyms in NOVA I can think of with L5 teams are Cheer Fusion and All Star Legacy.

Exactly right. Although in this industry you have to listen to the words and follow the language carefully. Many gyms and EP's that have been announced to have "merged" in reality were "acquired." By saying "merged" they have a greater possibility of keeping a majority of present athletes or clients, which is often one of the reasons that they were bought or acquired. Keeping the same staff in place if only for a year or two, also aids in the acquired but we will just announced that we have merged process.
