I may be wrong but....If at large bids are not passed down, why would teams accept them if we know they only/always go on paid? Some team would really want and use it.

You can't always guarantee getting a paid bid later.I may be wrong but....If at large bids are not passed down, why would teams accept them if we know they only/always go on paid? Some team would really want and use it.
we all know 3 of those teams will get paid later!! They always have.
I'm guessing OP is talking about Beatles. They got an AL at BUTBT but declined it and I believe that's how Apple got their bid (I could be wrong). Someone asked on Twitter about Beatles and Rockstar responded by saying they only compete at Worlds on a paid bid. If that is the case, then why not declare that registration? That way the team that gets the bid can celebrate the way the other teams get to.
Ohhh. That makes sense.I don't think so. It sounds like the OP is talking about a well established team taking the At-Large Bid with the expectation of getting a Paid Bid down the road. In these cases, the AL Bid disappears and wouldn't be passed down.
If the gym would go to Worlds on an At-Large then I would think it is their responsibility (to their paying customers and athletes) to accept the bid, even if they prefer to upgrade down the road.I don't think so. There are many teams who have a great chance of getting paid bids, but it's never a given. I would consider it a disservice if my kids' gym didn't take an AL just for the sake of giving a lesser team an opportunity and then unforseen circumstances prevented them from getting any bid at all. There are plenty of opportunities for AL bids especially later in the season - most EPs can't even award them all at competitions held the last 4 weeks of the season.we all know 3 of those teams will get paid later!! They always have.
