I want to make one more comment and then I will be quite. (no I wont because I get really frustrated)

Try sitting in the arena on Sunday waiting on bid announcements, as a parent who has spent thousands of dollars to that point, knowing your team is in line for a paid bid. Then the announcer lets you know the a team of twenty somethings is going to worlds for free. The word free is used loosely. Now this team of twenty somethings was amazing, and should be with their age and talent level. Sorry, I know I sound bitter and it's because I was. Give the paid bids to the parents. They are the ones who have EARNED it.

Please don't try to convince me other wise by telling me how some programs use the IO levels for their L5. The big programs that dominate those divisions are full up with the twenty somethings.

I get where you are going. Is the worlds bid built on the backs of others less likely to be distributed to those who helped build it?

I have a team of 24 19 -23 year olds that work their tails off inside and outside the gym. They are college students who are not on scholarships and most are paying their own way through college. They go to school full time, cheer for college, cheer for international open 5 and work to pay their own competition fees and travel. I can count on one hand how many of them get any help from their parents to pay cheer fees. These kids have just as much a right to a paid bid as any other team - maybe more.

I am not going to try and convince you otherwise and I can understand how a parent might feel, but I do not understand why someone being in their 20s makes them not worthy of a paid bid? A lot of athletes on international teams are actually college students as well and are paying for college and other bills so why not get all the help they can?

I am actually the opposite and get upset when an International team deserves the paid bid and doesn't get it. In my opinion that a paid bid at BUTBT should have gone to TGi5 (different issue won't argue about it) so I felt like that international team got jipped because they were just as good if not better then the teams that walked away with the paid bids.

It's the Event Producer's money and they should be able to give it to any team they want. I would hope they'll let us know in advance how they are planning on giving it out so we can decide whether or not to support them, but it's their money to do with as they please.

I believe the discrepency is that open teams have not traditionally paid the same full price.

If open teams get no financial help in the paying of their fees by the event, then sure, they can get a paid bid.

An Event Producer giving money to a team that didn't pay entry fees doesn't make sense to me, but I still say it's their choice since it's their money.
