What????
We are not football, basketball, baseball, or gymnastics!!!
However each of these have the ability to choose colors, styles, etc....
This is the bottom line for me on this issue. I do not want to limit those that want a full top, half top, long skirts, shorts, etc.....
I wish you gave the same grace and ability to be me......to me....

Out of the frying pan and into the fire...
Yes we live in a country that allows us the freedom to pretty much wear and say anything we want. But as an organized activity there are rules and regulations that must be followed. An NFL player was fined for wearing sneakers that were not regulation, a soccer team has a standard of uniform that every team wears. We have traffic laws for the same reason. Sure you can run that red light, you have that freedom but there are consequences to that as well.
If you don't like the idea of full tops...I get that and you are entitled to that opinion but where do we draw the line in our sport? Do we continue to get dragged through the media mud everytime a "reporter" decides to do an expose on cheer? Because that's what they focus on, not how well our kids perform but what they look like and they use it to delegitimize us at every turn.
As I have said before I could care less about the uniform rules. We belonged to a gym that the whole program wore full tops. My kids have belonged to enough organized sports that I get why they put them out. Our gym already adheres to most of what was listed anyway so it really doesn't effect us as much as a gym that allows their kids to run around in UGGS or be half dressed at awards (two of my biggest pet peeves).

I'm not going to argue with you because it is clearly going nowhere, but I would love to know when NFL players and NCAA basketball players became capable of choosing their own style and color of their uniforms...
The NFL and NCAA isn't going to let them wear whatever design they want, it must be approved.
USAG regulates what Shawn Johnson gets to compete in. She may get to choose the color, but she still has restrictions just like what the USASF is trying to do.

I love that no matter what the champions of full tops just gloss over any and all arguments and stand on their pedestal of.....I don't know what :(

I have never put my athletes or my 2 daughters in a uniform that is provocative, sexual, or anything else. I cannot believe that we as a group are bowing to this kind of "straw man" arguments. The uniforms that our athletes perform in are not provocative and are not hurting our athletes. They are appropriate for the sport our athletes participate in.

Again I want YOU to have the freedom to choose a full top....wish I had the same

This is the dumbest statement I have ever read
Because in the USA we have a little thing called freedom...
Full top Crop top that is the choice of the individual. And it was not rude it is rude to think that your opinion is the only RIGHT opinion.

A. If you really think that because you live in the USA you have all the freedom to do anything as you please, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that my comment is NOT the dumbest thing you have ever read.

B. I don't think anyone here thinks their opinion is the ONLY right opinion, but we live in the USA so you may think/say whatever you please, I'm not losing any sleep over it. :)

Look at Oregon....
They change the "style" of their uniform almost every game :)))

I guess your right...
Full tops for everyone!!! glad your choice is the standard for all of us. I'll make sure to send my design ideas to you for approval :))

I never said I thought everyone should have full tops. Like I said I am neutral to it all because it really doesn't matter as long as there are regulations on length and how much skin is showing because some cutouts are too much. I also wouldn't care if everyone was made to wear fulltops, heck out everyone in tshirt and shorts for all I care. I am there to watch skills not uniforms.
I like NCA college rules where they allow crop tops but have length restrictions.

You think that is neutral??? Don't hug the fence say what you mean and mean what you say!!

I will continue to fight for your right to have a full, half, whatever top along with my right to not be judged immoral because I disagree.

Who said anything about you being immoral??? That is you putting words in people's mouths.

I am neutral because I don't care if a child on a youth team has a crop top on as long as that crop top isn't a thin strip of fabric. Fierce's level 1-4 uniforms are a great example, on the little girls there is barely any material that makes up the top. Make the tops a smidge longer, but still cropped and all is good.

Why do you get to choose that...that is the choice of the parents and owners of the gym.
And yes if you support the "image" rules as set forth you are saying that those that disagree are just that :(((
But I will always support your desire to put your athlete in whatever uniform you decide is right for you.

Oh, sorry. Sports bras and soffees in the GYM are within context. You're in a private establishment that is typically not open for the public for anyone to walk in and out as they please. Most competitions are held in a convention center, a PUPLIC convention center where typically MANY events are going on. Within your gym walls people understand or maybe even expect to see young people running around in shorts and a sports bra. In the real world full of "non-cheer" people they do not expect this sight to be seen. Do you take your daughter to the grocery store or mall in a sports bra and shorts?

I'm not against crop tops but I don't see this rule as being a HUGE deal. If this makes or breaks the sport for you you're in the wrong sport.
actually if it's after practice, yes I do...so quick to judge huh?
and have you ever been to worlds? their practice wear covers less than their uniforms and I don't really see people complaining about that..and they're out in PUBLIC..and you're right, context makes a difference. If I'm at a cheerleading competition I believe the context IS appropriate, if I'm at a EVP tourny I expect women in minimal clothing, etc.

I think the tumbling and age issues are way more important for us to be worrying about...not what our kids will be wearing in 3 years.....
The tumbling and age changes effect us NOW, and are far more damaging to this industry than full top vs. half top. In fact, those I have talked to could care less about the appearance and image policy. They are far more concerned with the borderline gay bashing verbiage used and the fact that the age grid will probably shut down a number of small gyms in the area.
more than borderline imo

What if gyms were to submit uniform designs sketches for approval? That way all uniforms would be reviewed for potential issues before they were ever made and hit the mat. Questionable sketches could be sent back for revisions. Maybe it would weed out the maid costumes and tube tops and not penalize the majority who picked more age appropriate styles.
