Half Tops Or Full Tops?

full, its classier. But I am backwards, if it is gonna be half I'd rather see the little ones in half tops since they just about all have the same body type. I don't like to see juniors and seniors in half tops. Oddly, my kids said the same thing as me when the new guidlines came out " I don't get how they (USASF) think girls with hooters in tiny tops is appropriate either." But a factor in what gym my CP choose this season was the length of the uniform top (it was a half top) so go figure!

I like the look of full tops on younger girls, some of them still have their baby fat and I think it looks better. The whole team has to be in great shape to pull off the half tops.

deffinintally half, i am a cheerleader and have had half my whole life they are alot more comfy, you dont get as hot and they are easier to move around it. Also in certain stunts skin is easier to grip. :)

I like half tops. I think more importance should be placed on the comfort of the tops. Tops are just part of the uniform (costume) and every body type will not look great in everything.

I would have to say half tops for all-star. It completely differentiates them from high school and college cheer, and it's easier to tumble in

My CP is starting her 8th year of cheer so I have witnessed the uniform evolution. Just 4 or 5 years ago, 80% of teams were wearing full tops and skirts. There were not even cut outs. Today I would say 80% of teams are wearing the half tops and a lot are even wearing "bootie shorts". Almost all uniforms now have the cutouts. What has happened (and why I think they decided it was time for a regulation) is they have become too short (both tops and bottoms). It is too bad there couldn't have been a happy medium because I understand the shorter uniforms are more comfortable and not as hot.

But then lets look at other sports uniforms and lets start with volleyball! Just Kidding....don't want to "start anything"!

can't forget the horrid turtlenecks most uniforms had before they decided to go v-neck!
I understand completely! I've been an allstar cheerleader for 10 years, and Im pretty sure my first few years with CEA, we were the absolute ONLY team with a half top and non-pleated skirt!

I am going to say I do believe younger squads should have full length tops. We are all on the inside, we have to think of what image we are projecting to the outside people. Little young girls in little tops does not portray the right image. I think half tops are very cute and everything, I just think they are trying to change the image that the outside world sees. Every documentary that I have seen always has something negative to say about the image we portray with our clothes and make-up. I think half tops for senior squads but a reasonable length half top, once again the image we portray. I know we LOVE the cute little outfits but wouldn't we love to hear people say "wow, they are so athletic and work their butts off. I can't imagine how much work goes into it" not " I can't believe parents would let their kids wear that kind of stuff, especially flipping around like that and something might fall out?" Unfortunately, I hear more of the negative then the positive. Anyway, it was just my thoughts.

My kids having been cheering for 9 yrs since they were 4. We always had half tops, until the last few years and now have full tops. Full tops look cleaner and sharper in my opinion...but I like both. I do like the idea of half tops only for senior age kids.
