It's supposed to snow again tomorrow. I don't even know where we'll put it. The piles from shoveling are so high already! I can't take this cold anymore - the sub zero temps are going to kill me. 2-3 blocks to the train did not seem nearly as far in the fall when I took this job! And working right on the lake near Soldier Field seemed so fancy just 5 months ago. Now I just want to cry every day on my way to work. And it seems there is no end in sight for any of us. :'(

Hey, there hasn't been measurable snowfall since Saturday and temps are supposed to be in the 40's next week in Chicago... Fingers crossed that the worst is behind us! I was just beginning to accept that never ending snow and insane sub zero temperatures were a new fact of life here for the rest of forever...

I just wish they would turn the air conditioning off in this building. When it's a perfect 77 degrees outside, there is no need for climate control. I think I might just take my work (or Fierce Board) outside.;)

I saw one forecast for 51 degrees at the end of next week. I will, obviously, be at the pool if this happens. Of course that same forecast called for low 20s immediately after that. Sigh... I guess it's moving in the right direction at least.

People keep saying we're bound to have a great summer to make up for this winter. Really... I'd have to win the lottery this summer to make up for this ish.

A foot so far today. It changed over to rain/sleet for a while, but as the temps drop, it will be going back to snow. Uggg! And we're supposed to get a little bit more on Saturday. I'm so done!

Meanwhile, across the pond in the UK, we are being battered by storms, extremely strong winds and incessant rain! So many parts of the country have been flooded, I've seen horrible pictures of houses that are barely visible due to flood water almost reaching the roof! This has been happening on and off since Christmas and it feels like it's never ending! :( No school cancellations for me as my town hasn't been that affected *touch wood* but our competition this weekend has had to be moved to a different (albeit much bigger) venue.

I hope you guys are coping well with the snow and are safe :) Good luck to those trying to get to Cheersport and other competitions!

I heard on the news that you are all bracing for yet another storm and more flooding. Wishing you guys the best and that it's not nearly as bad as they were saying it might be.

Yep, currently in process at the moment! People died in the storms last night :(
However, the latest weather report said the situation is supposed to improve next week, finally, so hopefully we can start the recovery process!

Thank you :)

Are we being a little dramatic?

I remember when I lived in Pleasanton and they were calling for 'extremely dangerous and threatening rain conditions' ...it was a thunderstorm. the amount of laughter that came out of my parents and me when we heard was possibly slightly unnecessary, but we couldn't get over how scared people were of thunderstorms.

While I can't help but snicker and roll my eyes every time California goes into "Storm Watch <insert year>" mode... I think the biggest issue is the danger faced by those who live in areas that burned in the past year. Those hills haven't had a chance to get good plants with nice deep roots yet and there is always a threat of slides. So cue the dramatic music and pop up that Storm Watch 2014 background... we're going live to every "meteorologist" on the news team!

You lived in Pleasanton too?! I lived there when I was really young so I don't remember it much

3 to 6 inches of rain is a LOT to get at once. Here, that would be cause for concern because of the creeks, rivers, and high water table. I'd take notice.
