Hello International Friends! I wanted to know if you would share a few details about cheerleading in your country for me.

-Country
-Name of gym
-Approx # of athletes
-Gym setup (how many floors, if spring, how many panels per floor)
-About how many gyms in your area (within an hour drive)
-Gyms in Country
-Cost to train/compete (how much per month? comp fees)
-Do you have tumbling classes? How much?

-Anything else you wish to share. I am learning a lot about international cheer.

Country- England
-Name of gym- Bournemouth Elite
-Approx # of athletes 90
-Gym setup (how many floors, if spring, how many panels per floor) past season used a school hall with hard mats and trained sprung floor at gymnastics place every other week I thik 6 panels
-About how many gyms in your area (within an hour drive) 2
-Gyms in Country no idea but atleast 100

They are training on a 5 panel spring floor next year

ETA: In the uk cheer is growing fast most programmes do not have their own gym and either use gymnastics facilities or places like leisure centre or school halls with hard mats. There were 481 teams at nationals in july but dont know how many programes were there.

We follow the levels of the us but for youth there arent many is any past level 2 and level 3 for junior

Since I am not a cheerleader anymore I will write down for my ex gym.

-Country
Slovenia

-Name of gym
Twist Allstars

-Approx # of athletes
We have dance, gymnastic and cheerleading in our gym all together it would be around 200 athletes but just cheerleading it's around 7o kids.

-Gym setup (how many floors, if spring, how many panels per floor)
In old gym...none. Only one panel of spring floor, but they are building new gym for this season and it's one panel of spring floor, 1 dead floor (since all of our competitions are on dead floor) and one airtrack.

-About how many gyms in your area (within an hour drive)
One

-Gyms in Country
I would say two. But there are some gyms that have only like one team. Than it would be around 6 of us.

-Cost to train/compete (how much per month? comp fees)
30€ per month (2 practices and one tumbling class) and around 50€ for competition. If it is travel comp it's around 300€ (compe fees, bus, hotel)

-Do you have tumbling classes? How much?
Yes, one in a week. It's in included in month tutition. But we don't have privates.

-Anything else you wish to share.
Slovenia is small country. Cheerleading is waaay different than in any other coutry. I almost know every slovenain cheerleader at least by their names. And half of them I am friends with. We have 3 comps in Slovenia. And we usually do 2 travel comps to other country (we went to Germany and Paris last season). We only have 3 divisions at competitions. Pee Wees, Juniors and seniors. And there's usually a lot of other teams from other coutries at competitions (Hungary, Austria, Croatia) We don't have a lot of teams but Slovenia is still one of the best countries in Europe. We were second best country at ICU 2013 (2 gold medals) and best country with most medals (5 golds, 7 silver and 4 bronze medals) at European championship in 2014.

-Country - Canada

-Approx # of athletes - 300 maybe??

-Gym setup (how many floors, if spring, how many panels per floor) - 2 sprung floors, 9 strips

-About how many gyms in your area (within an hour drive) - 3 or 4, I think.

-Gyms in Country - No clue. Lots

-Cost to train/compete (how much per month? comp fees) - about $90/month, with a registration fee for competitions and such of $200-$400 depending on which team you're on.

-Do you have tumbling classes? How much? Yup, about $150-$200, depending on the time.

No longer cheer/work for the program but...
-Country: Canada
-Name of gym: Cheer Sport Sharks
-Approx # of athletes: I'd say around 800 between all 3 gyms but it may be more than that
-Gym setup (how many floors, if spring, how many panels per floor): Ottawa gym one full sprung floor 9 panels, 2 additional panels for tumbling in another area.
Cambridge I believe has 2 full sprung floors, another spring floor area for tumbling and I can't remember what else
Ancaster has a new gym and I have no idea what's there but I believe it will have at least 1 full spring floor
-About how many gyms in your area (within an hour drive): 4
-Gyms in Country: lol no idea but a lot
-Cost to train/compete (how much per month? comp fees) I think for open it was $1095 or something for the year and I ended up paying in 4 equal payments. Comp fees were included as well as a "team item", choreo fee, music fee, and I think that's it.
For senior it's more due to them travelling to the US to compete and having 2 practices a week VS the 1 practice a week I had for open.
-Do you have tumbling classes? How much? I didn't do tumbling classes but if I did a private it was $35 plus hst. There are tumbling packages that you can purchase for the whole year at registration.

Hello International Friends! I wanted to know if you would share a few details about cheerleading in your country for me.

-Country UK
-Approx # of athletes 60
-Gym setup (how many floors, if spring, how many panels per floor) 1x9 panel sprung floor, 1x rod track, 1x air track, 1x fast track, 8x trampoline, full artistic gymnastics equipment
-About how many gyms in your area (within an hour drive) I think 3
-Gyms in Country ????
-Cost to train/compete (how much per month? comp fees) £28-40 per month training depending on squad level and hours. £25-£45 per competition
-Do you have tumbling classes? How much? Yes, included in tuition. Any extra is £5 per session which can be 1-8hours, it's just for insurance purposes.

-Anything else you wish to share. I am learning a lot about international cheer.
As much as we'd love to run on a season basis, youth sport is not set up that way in the uk. In my gym we can't run costs over a year, it has to be monthly tuition and deadlines for comp. Uniform and training kid is as needed. We also gave a lot less parents staying to watch. In my gym they are all drop and run and I love it :)

where abouts in the uk are you?

-Country
Germany

-Name of gym
Green Storm Cheer

-Approx # of athletes
~70

-Gym setup (how many floors, if spring, how many panels per floor)
No gym, just a room and a school space, a few mats
Once in a while we rent the local gymnastics space with a 5 panel spring floor, but it´s hard to find times when they don´t need it.
I would say max. 6 x 2 hours a year.

-About how many gyms in your area (within an hour drive)
I´d say 7, could be more.

-Gyms in Country
There are many teams, but maybe a handfull of real "gyms" like they have their own space with a spring floor.

-Cost to train/compete (how much per month? comp fees)
At our gym:
120.- Euro a year for cheer
90.- Euro deposit for uniform
300.- to 400.- Euro Comp fees/Travel costs (depending which team)
~100.- Euro Camp fees
Bows, practice clothes, shoes depending on how much their parents buy them ;-)

-Do you have tumbling classes? How much?
No. Just because we don´t have gym time for it.

Here's for my old gym I coached at...

-Country: Germany
-Name of gym: Club - AFV Jenaer Hanfrieds e.V.; Teams: Flying Princesses, TPC Majestic, TPC, Golden Princesses
-Approx # of athletes: ca. 60-70
-Gym setup (how many floors, if spring, how many panels per floor): The club doesn't own its own gym, it applies through the city for halls/gyms to use for practice times... the club gets use of the gymnastics club's gym, which has a 6 (if I remember correctly) panel spring floor; which can not be used to stunt on. This is a new floor they just put in, and the old floor was relocated into another gym that the senior team uses for Friday practices, this can be stunted on. It is about 5 panels wide.
The other teams/practice times, practice in basketball court/halls.
-About how many gyms in your area (within an hour drive): Within an hour, 2??
-Gyms in Country: I forget...this was posted somewhere, I know there's around 13,000 athletes...
-Cost to train/compete (how much per month? comp fees): Club membership costs 10 Euro/month (about $15). Fees to start at regionals (and nationals when applicable) are covered by club (5 Euro), costs for bus and accommodation are typically split between club and members (depends on available funds, usually anywhere between 10-30 Euro). Additional competitions ("open" competitions, that aren't run by the governing body) are paid for by the members; however the club will help if funds are there.
-Do you have tumbling classes? How much?: Yes and no. Saturdays the tiny teams practice in the gym that the gymnasts own... this is optional time to go tumble etc. for the other members if they choose.. Format is more like open gym though, since there is not a tumbling instructor.
-Anything else you wish to share: Germany is split between 2 governing bodies, CCVD and CVD. CVD belongs to ECA and ICF; CCVD belongs to ECU and ICU. CCVD follows the structures/rules of ICU/ECU more or less, with a few exceptions/differences.

-Country: Canada
-Name of gym: Stars Cheerleading
-Approx # of athletes: Not 100% sure, most likely 80
-Gym setup (how many floors, if spring, how many panels per floor): One spring floor with 5 panels. Plus another panel for tumbling.
-About how many gyms in your area (within an hour drive): Closest gym is an hour and half it is called Premiere Cheer Academy
-Gyms in Country: There are many decent gyms in the east.
-Cost to train/compete (how much per month? comp fees): Comp fees are about 500 in total including air fare, hotels, food and the actual competition
-Do you have tumbling classes? How much?: We have 4 tumbling classes that take place from September to January on sundays. They are typically 35 dollars a class.
Unfortunately we are the only all star cheerleading gym in our region. It is very difficult to compete against gyms that also have teams the same levels as ours.

-Country
England

-Name of gym
Stars Elite

-Approx # of athletes
65

-Gym setup (how many floors, if spring, how many panels per floor)
3 teams train in a gymnastics gym with spring floor (gymnastics size so a bit smaller than a cheer floor), the gymnast has a tumble track and pit. 1 team trains in a school gym on hard mats.

-About how many gyms in your area (within an hour drive)
Around 7.

-Gyms in Country
Hundreds

-Cost to train/compete (how much per month? comp fees)
£35 per month gym fees, 4 x competitions around £30 each.

-Do you have tumbling classes? How much?
Yes, included in gym fees.

-Anything else you wish to share. I am learning a lot about international cheer.
We would do anything to have our own gym, training where we do we are held back from expanding as we can't get any more time. Its something we just can't afford or even have people with the time to sort it out.
