Spray tan vs self tanning

Am I the only one who has an insane fear of getting locked inside a tanning bed?
I get really afraid that someone is going to walk into the room and peek at me while I'm tanning. I put the goggles on, and then wrap a black scarf around my face a bunch of times (I turn the facial bulbs off), so I can't see anything, so I always get worried that someone is looking at me.

Am I the only one embracing the pale?

You're not alone. It helps me blend into the surrounding snowbanks better :p

I get why people tan and have no problem if that's what they wanna do. If it makes you happy and comfortable with the way you look and it brings you joy, I say go for it! I'm just not into the whole tanning thing. I can't sit still for that long. And my Irish/Swiss/French/German roots don't allow me to tan easily.

I actually like being pale in the winter. Don't get me wrong, I like being tan in the summer time and I LOVE when my hair gets lighter. But these are positive side effects of spending time outside doing things rather than laying out to get that way. I'm not super into the way I look. There are other things I'm more interested in. Although, I envy those who can do really awesome hair dos! (I mastered the French braid on myself last summer so now I feel like I can do anything.)

I'm still laughing about tanning to keep warm in the winter. That's great.

No, you are not alone. Cp on the other hand does not agree with us. The funny thing is, I am not against being tan. I personally feel healthier when I have some color. I am in just in protest of an industry that no matter how much it says has nothing to do with the pageant world and wants no association with it whatsoever for some reason just can't separate itself from it.

Self tanning?? Meaning natural skin color or laying out in the sun?

**Come on, where's Ashton because I think we're being punk'd**

usually a "self tanning" lotion/creme/spray... so artificial color you apply yourself. at least that's how I use the term.

Tanning beds have been banned in most states in Australia since 2014, since figures show around 43 deaths on average were caused by them every year. The sun is VERY bad here, with approx 11,000 new cases of melanoma and 1,500 deaths in Australia each year so we always emphasize to everyone that fake is the only way to go. We have a spray tanner come to our gym before each comp and she uses an organic, sensitive skin safe type of product, although personally I still tend to use the one a cheap one out of a bottle.

Specific question for other flyers - is there any product that's suitable to use on the day of comp itself? I often find I'm not as dark as I want on the day since it's started to fade but I'm too scared to apply anything in case my legs are slippery.
I don't know if you can get it in Australia but I reccomend st. Tropez tanning mousse. If you get the regular one the tan should last like 3 or so days on 3 coats and you're able to reapply it after the tan has been on for a day with no streaks or blotching. I personally use the extra dark one because I'm as pale as you can get so it just makes me look normal.

She looks dark compared to my CP, seriously Snow White has nothing on her. Thankfully her uniform for both All Star and High School is long sleeved and her stomach and arms are covered, her legs for some reason are milk white. We may go try the tanning place in town to see what they can do in the way of a spray tan. Lots of lotions, body washes, etc. give her a rash so we need to be extra careful in what is used. Everyone has scared me about tanning beds. Thank you all for the advice it is appreciated.
Thank you again everyone. I just bought the St. Mortiz mousse in dark at Ulta. I had the St. Tropez in my hand, but it was twice the price of the St. Moritz and it was highly recommended. Also bought a mitt and a sponge. Going to try it tonight on her arm to make sure she has no reaction to it. Hopefully it is fine and she can use it. If it's a go, I will take pics of before and after and let everyone know my experience on my "ghost" child.

After reading through this thread yesterday I drove an hour to Ulta [emoji13]

I was going to get the St Moritz but they didn't have it. I went with my second choice, fake bake. I want to test it out before Cheersport but cp won't be my guinea pig. So little sister it is [emoji4]
