Also to call Beck out on "respecting artistry". Really?

LOVE IT. I believe Beck deserved the win. Love Beyonce, but come on this dude is talented too!!!!

I guess I lean on the side of artistry... My ex-husband is/was in the business and as a young person I got to see this music business up close and personal...It is not about the talent, but about corporations selling us artists... I still remember during the Milli-Vanilli fiasco and craziness of the 80's and 90's...We insiders knew what was happening, It was not about the talent, but what you look like on the surface... I actually had friends that were conned into signing music contracts thinking they were going to be big stars and go into the studio and record music, which later to hear someone else lip-sync to their music... So expecting every Grammy to go to Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, etc... is ludicrous and can lead to non-talented artists winning because a bigger corporation support these artists and mastermind the same heist that. Happened in 80's and 90's ..

Nobody (except maybe Kanye) expects every Grammy to go to the Beyoncé's and Taylor Swifts but you also can't imply that those artists are along the likes of Milli Vanilli and you also can't imply that those artists and artist like them aren't talented... Just because someone's artistry differs from what you prefer doesn't mean that their artistry does not exist....and that's where Kanye went wrong in his rant

Also. AC/DC sounded like straight up noise and Madonna needs to have a seat and close her legs...but in sure to some that was artistry.

My 14 year old non-cp said that AC/DC needs to do the super bowl next year because they rocked.

She would agree about Madonna. She needs to learn that she can be sexy and vibrant AND be age-appropriate and not show so much skin.

I've already decided that Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar should perform at the Super Bowl next year.

I'm okay with women of a certain age showing skin...tastefully. But between her red carpet look and the excessive opening of her legs, it just looked painful and desperate.

I admittedly never liked Madonna though...even as a toddler in the 80s I couldn't stand her.

I thought AC/DC was good. My favorite performances of the night were Hozier/Annie Lennox and Sam Smith/Mary J. Katy Perry was good too, but I'm still hung up on preaching that platform yet nominating and inviting Chris Brown. (but of course that has nothing to do with her performance)

Oh and John Mayer in those glasses on the guitar ::heart eyes emoji::

Edited to add: And Sia. I never understand any of her performances but I LOVED IT. And Kristen Wigg >>>>

I agree, i may have gone overboard with the artistry and may feel a tad bit slighted for friends I personally know who are talented but never garnered the same spotlight.... My ex-husband actually won a Grammy in the 80s and another girlfriend won for her 1st Album tying with Patti LaBelle for best R&B in 90's and she was a recipient of the hijack vocals stealing from the 90s, these artists received no accolade at all, so in many ways it could be sour grapes on my part....
Kanye should knows exactly what is involved in the music business and stop thumbing his nose to non-mainstream artists...I still remember him during the early 2000s crying and screaming for some attention, especially when the industry had hip-hop pigeon-toed as ghetto or street music, so stop it!

I have a paper due next week for a class that I've only been in for not even a week and I can't find the sources I need to do the paper since what looks like could be a diary from that time period might not be and I'm about to have a break down because of everything. I don't know why I even bothered with college.
Could you ask anyone where to find the sources?

OMG, I think it's so creepy of me to be dying to know who your ex husband is! I absolutely love my 80's music!

My Ex-husband would have been considered a non-mainstream artist and sang gospel music, but he won his Grammy singing on the original track of a gospel song that another group, Foreigner re-recorded and it became an huge pop tune in the 80's. .. I really do not want to give a name because the life I have now is so different from when I was in my 20's and hanging out with all those music legends and up and comers, who some arrived, but many had not...

You are so sweet! I didn't expect you to divulge his name or even share any info, it's none of my business. I was surprised at myself for even being curious! I'm a grown woman in my 40's (who still loves her 80's music) why in the world am I "fan-girling"! LOL! Thanks again for sharing! @pebbles49

Kanye, dude, give it up. His rant at the after party. I can't. Going off about how the Grammy's need to respect "real artists"

Beck has had a record deal since 1985.... I'm willing to bet my life that Kanye has never listened to Beck's album. Beyonce doesn't just win because she's your friend.

If anyone got robbed in that category it was Sam Smith. Sorry, not sorry.

This is the 2nd time he's interrupted a speech because he didn't like the results. Maybe next year no invite? Even if he's nominated.
