I could be wrong, because I don't feel like going back to the picture of the rules, but didn't it say going over would be a 2.0 deduction, not a .5? If so, why didn't SE get the full 2.0 deduction?

Eta: never mind that 2.0 was for not having music the whole time. It didn't list a set deduction for being over. Which I think should also be listed. I know I've seen it posted for worlds? I think...

If you listen to SE's music after the big "SENIOR ELITE" at the end you hear "elite, elite" in an echo that last 3 seconds so techniqully there music was still going. It also took them 1 second to hit the final pose so they had 2 seconds left of music going, so really they didn't go over there music.

But was the total for the music 2:30 with all the echo sound effects - or was it the pose after it stopped? My daughter's team last season made through the entire season - including NCA - and when it came to Worlds the music was over time limit (and the music had not been adjusted). We got an arbitrary full 6 point deduction - go figure - lucky it was only .5 at NCA.

The time limit is listed in the deduction sheet. .5 for going over 1-5 seconds and 1.0 point for 6+ seconds over.

What I can't understand is if it doesn't go the way you want why do people slam other gyms down. Last comp I was at a lot of things went wrong and I got frustrated at the awards due to use placing lower than someone with an illegal stunt. Did I go on social media and slam the team? No I spoke to my coach as she didn't see the other team with he stunt and asked about it and found out they were cleaner and we had deductions. It should make you work harder it has for me.
Competitions are about doing your best if if is not your day to win so be it

Well it's a testament to you guys as well. I happened to be sitting next to cp16 on the couch when that stuff started and I was really proud of your athletes who were very clear with each other in their group chat (I didn't read it, but he was telling me about it) that they didn't need to respond negatively......they knew exactly how you all would respond to them as coaches if they did so they kept themselves in check as a group.

Well done!

This makes me happier than you can imagine. Well done indeed.

Question for those who (or parents of kids who) have won NCA more than once: if you embroider the newest jacket you won, do you only embroider it with the name of the team and year you won it with, or would you list the other wins as well? I feel like if I had won more than once I'd want people to be able to tell that I had. It's a completely random question, I'm just curious as to what people who actually have won multiple times would do.

I have seeen a few with "back to back" or listing of all their years. Most athletes just wear it as-is though. It is really your choice.

We've only ever put CP's name on them. The last one she got (2014) we never got around to doing even that.

Quick question: is it a deduction to have a shorter routine than 2:30? Probably seems like a silly question but now I'm not sure..

I don't think you'd get a deduction. The rule says you can't exceed 2:30. But the less time you perform the less time you have to do skills which would probably hurt your score a lot.

No. CP's team last year went to a comp with a super short routine because of a music error that got fixed by the next competition. No deduction, just less time to hit the score sheet.
