All-Star The D1 & D2 Summit 2016 Updates

Just saw a video of this... her arm is broken, so how is it legal? She has what looks to be a hard, plaster cast which was illegal last time I checked. She is most definitely flying in all the stunts and pyramid and the rule states, "A participant wearing a plaster cast or a walking boot must not be involved in stunts, pyramids, tumbling or tosses."
I heard it is a brace and not a cast which would be legal to compete in. Hopefully the injury is healed enough where it is safe to compete - she is extremely talented!

The amount of large gyms at the D2 Summit makes me sad. I don't care if it is a different location - you still have the name behind you and can share resources.

One of our teams just got second to a gym with many, many locations. [emoji17]

In full disclosure I should add that when my then 6-year old broke her arm on the bars in gymnastics she proudly told her orthopedist when he asked her if she had gone stir crazy during her 4-weeks off " I taught myself how to tumble with one arm" (yeah. Hanging head in shame looking back)

I don't understand this. How do they do that?

Our gym has many, many different locations and NONE of them compete small gym. Even though each location operates as it's own independent gym and rarely do we share anything. I just don't understand how those other programs get away with it.

I'm actually curious how these franchise-type gyms report or promote Summit/Worlds wins. Do the count them as a whole...or does each location only claim their own wins?

Well, I'm sure they are "separate" in some legal way, but they're huge enough that their name is very familiar to most people in cheerleading.

No doubt she's talented. I couldn't do what she does with both arms so I don't want to discredit her... but rules are rules.

I am ashamed to say I followed the video to her twitter. It was 100% a hard plaster cast in her practice tumbling video last week. Now it kind of looks like they just covered it in black duct tape or something. However, if I could see a cast from a far away video, I am sure it has been seen and checked by the appropriate people at the Summit. Not trying to take down Long Island Cheer or anything, I just wholeheartedly hate the "she's so fierce for competing with broken limbs" trend and I like to see rules followed.

It's definitely legal if it's set up correctly. They pretty much cannot share athletes and have to have separate financial structures. But I never understand it anyway.

It may also be advertising for the program as a whole. If nearly all the locations win the Summit(D1 or D2), someone might want to send their athlete to any of the locations.

snipers haven't gone in the past couple of years or so that i've notice
de/district 3 not going given that they're a powerhouse in their division.
I don't know about Snipers but I am pretty sure we have a Code 3 parent on here who stated they only go on paid bids, and didn't get one this year.

Has anyone heard that ECE Y5 competed against nobody in their division? I wonder why any other Y5 team didn't make it to the Summit.(I could be wrong though, maybe the others went to D2, but that is highly unlikely, as WC and CEA's Y5 teams are apart of the D1 gym)
Update: I just went onto the varsity D2 summirmt page, and no Y5 team is there.

I don't personally know much about this division, but do know that this was discussed previously somewhere on the board and that at least one of the other Y5 teams didn't come due to the expense of the competition.

Yes, they were. Other teams got bids (Twinkles and YE I believe), but chose not to go due to cost.
