Ksenia Afanasyeva has retired... which means Seda Tutkhalyan has secured her sport on Russia's WAG team:

As a tribute to her, here's a video of her gold medal-winning performance at the 2011 World Championships and her 2012 Olympic qualifications performance. She will go down as one of my favourite floor specialist; probably the last of the Russians to have unique choreography that doesn't just involve flailing of arms and slapping the word "artistry" on it:



Also, Liu TingTing is out with an injury, replacing her is Tan Jia Xin... who's actually training through an elbow injury (so much yikes China!!):

Its really sad to hear that she's retiring. Ugh! After performing at Bern I thought she was on her way to getting back in shape...turns out, it's not. She was one of those Russian gymnasts with gorgeous lines and VERY expressive choreography partnered with difficult tumbling and even Aliya is impressed with Kseniia's style of gymnastics. She will be missed.

Thanks, I remembered she performed fine in qualifications and only botched her double pike in TF.

Also, an update:
It was Valentina Rodionenko that said she's retired, Afanasyeva (apparently) has not made a statement regarding her gymnastics career. She's explained on VK that she's not able to travel due to the kidney stone-removal treatment she's undergoing, but hasn't mention retirement. Usually when Valentina "retires" a gymnast without actually confirming with the gymnast, she's placed them on her list of "don't care anymore" like what happened with Tatiana Nabieva and most recently, Viktoria Komova. The Rodionenko siblings are like a parasite...

It also lowkey annoys me that her Instagram is nothing but promotion after promotion. I know she's prob not at the ranch updating it...but it still makes me really sad for her. Like she's training for her 2nd Olympics but somewhere someone is like "gabby you're still a dollar sign, gotta make this $$$"


She appeared briefly in one of Simone's snapchats but from what Simone posts, it doesn't seem like Gabby is caught up in the candid hang out moments

I thought we were talking about Dominique for a second because I low-key laughed at her today when all of the Magnificent Seven is in cute dresses in their interview and Dominique is wearing her GoGoSqueez T-shirt. And DD instagrammed a pic with Simone and turned it into a Tide detergent advertisement. A glimpse into Gabby's future?

But seriously, I wish she was among the girls posting their Welcome Home/Good Luck/Going Away gym celebrations or something for her short few days before camp; instead Gabby Inc. is dragging her to Star Wars premieres to make her advertising $$. It's sad.

I also heard they invited another girl to camp but she turned it down most likely Amelia Hundley because of her super consistency. But Amelia's coach left for some camp in Central America so I don't really know it was a bit weird that she left for a camp so far away right after Trials considering Amelia had a serious shot of making alternate after her Nationals performance. I also heard a rumor that there was serious talk about removing MyKayla from the team after her social media fiasco which might of been part of the reason they offered Amelia an invitation. She isn't a standout on vault but she has a solid DTY if they had to use her. Her floor is also ok and those are MyKayla's standout events. But I think Maggie would have been the best to take MyKayla's spot if they did remove her from the team but she really went into NCAA mode the second she wasn't announced.

Yeah about Dominique and the GOGoSqueeze.

I remember my older sister actively watching gymnastics 3 times. In 1996. In 2008 when she yelled at (the tv) Alicia Sacramone for falling and when Gabby won AA.

When that interview was on the Today Show the other week she walked by the TV and said "what the hell does Dominique Dawes have on " I was impressed
