I don't think anyone's questioned any of these kid's motivations or character. I have nothing against the athletes themselves. I'm sure they're all great people, (and FWIW, through everyone's posts on this board in the past, it seems as though your daughter has a great head on her shoulders). For me, it's more about the fans that have created this 'cheerlebrity'/godlike sensation that now surrounds the sport. I don't like it. Years ago, you knew who the 'good' athletes were simply because they stood out in their routines (Ambrel, Flea, Matt McGrath, Tye Hill & the fierce flyer on CA with the bob are a few that come to mind), but there weren't fan pages, meet & greets, or crazy stalker fans on twitter. All of it rubs me the wrong way, and it appears I'm not alone. I know social media certainly wasn't as prominent back then as it is now, and I think that needs to take some of the blame, but I'm sorry, I just simply don't like the fact that people are being sensationalized to the point that they are nowadays.
THAT IS DEVIN ALLEN!! (med, coed 5)the standing double on POWER.... best one I have seen yet! it is flawless
That is our brother and sister pair= David and Melissa =)i thought it was the team getting sponsored with varisty's new "last pass" shoe? no? I made that up..
anywho..
center dancer on top gun (Oreo)- she's become more well known because of the dance, but i love that the whole routine she kind of just blends in and then WHAM! she's so fierce. I love her.
Boy (and girl) on Fierce Legendkats who do the toss to handstand? during the pyramid. and then she like does a bridge over into a stunt group (not really a toss, but that's my best description ) looks awesome!
center stunt group and then basically the whole team of spirit central S5 - they stunt better than most coed teams.
FCA Diamonds center flyer - amazing flexibility
i'm sure i'll think of more later
Awww that is so sweet! That is my daughter <3 She is also the Twinkle with the lost bear LOL Heart Bear <3Her name's Lauren. She's SO good, and her needle is gorgeous. She's also point for jumps.
I don't think you can turn back the clock. And I have no problem with being rubbed the wrong way, criticizing product lines, waiting for signitures, uniform endorsements, shoes (probably coming) and WebCasts for TV shows. Fire away. Just don't assume that anyone talking here has any idea who these kids really are, their motivation, personality or things they do in private to promote the sport. Very, very few do, and they generally don't talk. Now, I have no idea why this got on this thread and encourage everyone to promote the kids that have not been mentioned or noticed.
I agree you can't turn back the clock, just pointing out my point of view on the subject and where I'm coming from. I also never assumed anything about anyone's motivations, and I'm still not seeing where people are discussing that. And back to the original point of the thread as you wished, I think recognizing athletes for an amazing skill is one thing, it's the '#shouldbecheerlebritystatus' and creepy idolization that I have a problem with, as I previously stated. That's all.I don't think you can turn back the clock. I sort of do. Just as some judge a person by their social media. Unless you know them personally or are in the gym with them, you don't know jack.I don't understand why you're coming on here with such a defensive tone, unless I've missed something?
