I live just outside DC and I have friends who live/work/study in Baltimore...so glad they're all doing okay but this is terrifying. I've been on this thread to distract myself.

Not even a SMOED fan. But I've gotta play devil's advocate. Those girls in the picture are excited because they just won worlds. I don't think it's unusual for them to take a selfie after the win.

I was rooting for BSB.
But just because this Kyle guy is being a jerk doesn't mean that all SMOED athletes are being intentionally ugly.

They probably should have cropped BSB out before posting, but we don't know that those specific athletes had bad intentions.

This. I was just about to ask if we even know the context of this.... Could they have been in the same area together? Were they not supposed to celebrate around other teams to minimize the risk of being portrayed in the same light that they have all year? Maybe they just aren't supposed to celebrate or be happy at all. Who knows. I think people are jumping to conclusions. This team has been talked about and talked down about all season. So many people - adults included - have made clear their hatred for Smoed and their desire for someone.... ANYONE to beat them. It didn't happen and these KIDS are celebrating. Don't jump to conclusions or play into the obvious punchline, please.

That being said... I know one athlete is reacting poorly, and I think he made his intentions behind his words very obvious. Please don't lump this in with that.

I'm not sticking up for kyle but there was a lot of hate towards smoed this season but I would have just let me winning speak for itself two wrongs don't make a right but he is young just like a lot of athletes and sometimes they can't control themselves
