I have a new baby as well, he's 4 weeks old today. If you want to keep your milk supply up, the worst thing you can do is supplement. Babies have frequent growth spurts at the beginning of life that require frequent feedings. Usually at 7-10 days, 3-4 weeks, 6 weeks. My son will eat every two hours for a week and then start wanting to eat every hour for a few days. This is completely normal. They feed more to increase your milk supply to meet their demand as they grow.

Also, it's very rare for a baby to react to things the mom is eating and it's more likely that your baby has some reflux which will get better as she grows. Burp her frequently during feeds and sit her upright when you're done. If you have anymore questions let me know. Good luck!

i don't have much of an option with supplementing...she will eat until I'm dry and still be hungry. it's not something i'm doing out of ease or just because, I literally haven't been consistently making enough milk (I know because after her feedings I would try and pump off the rest so I can start freezing milk for when I have to go back to work and she goes to daycare--so I know there is nothing left). At times I'll only produce 2 oz in a 3 hour span, and she consistently will eat 3-4 oz. I know breastfeeding helps keep the supply up, but I'm not going to let her cry because she didn't get enough and is still hungry. I'm trying to eat lots of oatmeal, almonds, and other "lactation stimulating" foods to try and increase it, but it's not happening as fast as she gets hungry.

Today was a much better day in terms of her not spitting up just because I would hold her upright after feedings instead of putting her in her swing--so I do think it's (thankfully) more in line with reflux--now I just have to make sure daddy is in the habit of doing the same thing instead of laying her down, which could prove to be the more difficult part when I'm not around ;)

Just got home from seeing Beyoncé at Global Citizens Festival and it was amazing, first time seeing her live and I received so much life. Her performance was literally flawless and I was so impressed I love her even more than I did before now [emoji30][emoji7]

I wanted to go so badly, but I never got tickets in the draw

But tbh I probably wouldn't have gone if we'd won anyway just because it would have taken up so much of my time this week here

And I've seen her twice.

And I probably would have had to sit they some of the other artists...like Pearl Jam....I don't even know who they are.

Anyway. I've walked 35 miles in NYC this weekend. [emoji31]

BABIES. Auntie Kristen needs to be ready- I've got two friends due in the next 6 months so I'm prepping knitting patterns. So pumped.

PS- @ErinS if you're up my way and need anything give me a shout. I'll be actually in the city the next two days.

I wish I'd seen this earlier. I'm at my aunts in Harlem now and heading out early tomorrow. What part do you live in? My hotel was in Brooklyn

Hobby Lobby has had Christmas stuff up since the beginning of September.
My hobby lobby doesn't even put them away... There are definitely less than around Christmas time but they're just in the back corner of the store all year rather than out being promoted. Works out well for buying Christmas lights for dorms! They've had Halloween stuff out since mid summer as well.

I try not to go there too much cause I can literally spend hours in there so mine might do that too, but I just dont see them.

Pearl Jam went after her, and I left before them because tbh I haven't heard of them either. And yeah it was an all day thing I got there around 1 and wound up in line for almost 2 hours and being in pen 3 (so around the middle of the entire group, about 30,000 people in). There was a lot of talking for the cause to sit through regardless, but the tickets were free so I'm not going to complain. Coldplay, ft. Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Common, ft.Sting, and an Indian artist were before her. It was a really long day but it was a good show and a nice day out.

Michaels already has Christmas decorations out. Thanksgiving isn't until October 12th.

Only when we stop stopping our lives can we begin to start starting them.
Crazy. I saw them in Sams too. I was like umm its not even Halloween or Thanksgiving geez.
alright work vent, so i apologize in advance....... i cant stand this new job ive been at for only about two weeks now, the training is complete crap, all of two days that we've had, and now were expected to perform at the highest level...... like really i only got to make one of each dish out of the two days i had to supposably train and now you expect me to be able to do it times 100x perfectly.....
i have a trainer who keeps throwing me under the bus for the smallest crap imaginable, plus she kinda sucks at being a trainer in general, considering she has no people communication skills at all. I have a very thick skin, but the quickest way to piss me off is to have to put up with someone who thinks their crap don't stink, and that is disrespectful on all levels, like please get some manners and get over yourself already dang....
ive decided that im just gonna ask to transfer back to my old location tomorrow and tell em that i dont think this is going to wrok out for me, i normally NEVER quit at anything, but my happiness at this point is more important to me and if that means i have to swallow my pride to get myself out of this mess then so be it. ughhhhh

i mean has anyone else here had a job they hated after only the first week??
Ugh is this the same lady that was talking about you to someone else while you were close enough to hear? That sucks that you're not happy at your new job. Hope you're happier elsewhere:)

Try pumping between feedings or increasing the frequency. So, if you are feeding her every three hours, pump after an hour an a half.

Do you have access to a lactation consultant?

Do you have a good double pump? Or, a good single pump and pump one breast while you feed from the other.

Btw, you can do this!

When I was a month old like your daughter my mom noticed I was getting thinner or not gaining any weight. Turns out she wasn't producing enough milk so she switched me to formula. I started to gain weight soon after. So don't feel bad that you have to supplement with formula if you're not producing enough milk. Your baby needs to eat and if it's going to be formula that's better than relying on the little breast milk you're producing. Also it seems like you're trying ways to up your milk so that's good. Twinklestars has a great point about waiting an hour or so after feeding her to pump. My cousin breastfeed full time as well as pumped. She said that a baby's suck is more powerful than a pump so they will get all the milk out than a pump would.
