i still stand by the fact that There are a lot bigger problems in the world, then a bunch of actors crying over being snubbed at the oscars. And if people seem to think that this is one of them, then heck god help us all...
... you're missing the point so hard but it's half 8 over here and I haven't had a coffee so I can't be bothered. So I will just say this:

The Oscars are meant to celebrate the best of the industry. Full stop. The best. Regardless of creed (lol) or colour.

BET was created to showcase Black entertainment because previous to its inception there was very little visibility in mainstream media. It's now a hot mess but whatever the inital point still stands.

That is why white people cannot boycott BET... are you with the rest of us yet?

I left the office early today because I was scheduled to work the night homepage shift (from my couch) so I was able to grocery shop for the weekend storm and completely missed all of the gridlock.
You guys look like you are going to be hit bad with this one. Glad you are fully stocked.

It snowed an inch today and DC shut down entirely.

We're supposed to get 20 inches this weekend.

:)

(also, is anyone on here a University of Maryland cheerleader? I feel like someone is...anyhow I was at the UMD/Northwestern game last night and your arena is pretty spiffy)
You live in DC?! I'm in Baltimore, so we're not too far. :)

Okay. But this is what you said, so I'm not sure how you're getting all of that (or expecting us to get all of that) from THIS post. THIS is what people took issue with. THIS is what you said. So basically you'd rather sympathize with a rich actor that gets nominations but can't seem to win, rather than the ones that can't get nominations at all

Doesn't make much sense, but if you like it, then I love it sis

Also. I literally laughed at the "I've sympathized with other racial things" sentiment.

Here's what that sounds like to someone like me (based on something that has actually been said to me). "Well, I'm sorry one of your friends was killed in that church, but I mean South Carolina really cared about that and we removed the confederate flag from the statehouse, so racism is pretty much over"

See how that works. See why that rationalization doesn't make sense. Keep your sympathy if you think it negates the need to lend an ear or attempt to understand other social injustices in other realms

But like I've said earlier. I truly don't care about your statement because I don't look from validation from people that don't care about me....and I suggest celebs learn the same idfaf attitude.

The thing is, you can be concerned about more than one issue. They can be upset about the Oscars situation AND others. Both can be important.

not everyone is going to get nominated or win an oscar, and for some it might take years to even get a nomination. To try and blame it on the fact that people arent getting nominated because of race, yes i do think its overkill. Again hundreds of movies are made every year. Im sure plenty of the oscars panel voted for movies like will smith and straight outta compton (which they did, two people already came forward with this revelation) and others but they just didnt get enough votes so they didnt make it into the nominations, thats just how the cookie crumbles sometimes. For people to go bat sh*t and claim its because of racial issues with the oscars im just not going to buy that. We live in a very PC world to the point where its almost pathetic.

The leo thing has been a running joke for awhile now, so im sorry that went over your head.

and again, im not an actor but i cant seem to grasp that winning a statue (cause thats what it is) needs to be turned into a life or death thing, or some kind of movement. I just cant get behind a bunch of rich actors complaining about it. Cause theres a lot more problems in this world then this.

the oscar issue is basically 50/50 at this point lots of people agree with it, and lots of people dont.

Once again. This is what you said. This is how you brought up the subject. This is how you addressed the issue that TBH none of us really seem to care about to the point where where bring it up here, but since you did some of us obliged. No the "leo thing " didn't go over mine or anyone else's head (did you miss the underhanded snarking about it? ) but what seems to be going over your head is this issue in its entirety.

But like I said. If you like it. I. Love. It.

Also. If anyone is in the mood to pretend to care, one way or the other, about something that truly has no bearing or makes any iota of difference in their regular existence on earth.... the have a lol at this This Woman's Video Nails Exactly What's Wrong With Oscar Nominations

Not sure if it's for all locations, but there is a Groupon for the Weezer/P!ATD show this summer right now. It brought tickets for KC down to $19. I saw Weezer several years ago and they put on a great show. I'll be out of town and can't go, but hopefully some of y'all can save some money!

They have them for the OKC show for $49 for two GA tickets. We're now considering VIP to make it special for CP though. Although I'm not sure if VIP would be good, it's up front but idk how crazy the crowd gets at the zoo amp...ugh.

Anyways thanks for the info, I have 6 days to decide at least!
