Are you guys in USA happy that DT is the president now?

I personally like HC better than DT. I'd also like to see the first female president in USA. Well, I guess that won't happen for now.

In Indonesia, we used to have a woman as a president and she did her job as president quite well though.
I wouldn't say I am happy DT is the president, but I am definitely happy HK ISN'T. It isn't about gender for me. It's about how the Clinton's came by their money, who they owe for that, and how she has conducted herself and secretary of state. Anyone else would be in jail for the things she has done. She is corrupt and owes too much to too many bankers and foreign leaders to be an effective president. Trump is definitely going to have to moderate himself is he is going to be successful in office. He has a long way to go to convince me he will be an effective leader. I don't like many of the things he has said over the years. I think he is arrogant, but I don't think he can be bought like the Clintons have been. I know HK would have done irreparable damage to this country. What Trump will do remains to be seen. My hope is that he will surround himself with the right people to be an effective leader. Bottom line, I wish there had been a better choice than either of these 2.

I've cried in front of the kids today.

It's. Not so much Donald Trump being president that I'm afraid of. I'm genuinely afraid of his supporters

Few people here know what it's like to walk in a room and be called a n.

Or what it's like to have a friend killed by a white supremacist present day

Or be treated differently because of their race

It's the way I'm going to be treated openly now is what fears me the most

I don't think every Trump supporter is a racist. But my God. The ones that are will become bold and brazen and I'm afraid

I wholeheartedly agree with you there.

trump hates everyone but the rich. Which is why i think he'll suck in the long run. He doesnt like anyone who isnt rich or middle class white christian americans.
He goes out and says he hates hispanics and then turns around and says he loves them (just for an example). Why anyone of any race supported him is beyond me.
im concerned about the damage he'll do here, yes. But im more concerned about the damage he'll do internationally.
Ironically a lot of countries have already pledged their support to trump now that he's won, but i think a lot of this, especially from china, mexico and the middle east is just a "lets play nice" act for the moment. Countries know the US holds quite a bit of power, so most arent going to come right out of the gate and bury him.
Time will tell. As much as a hate him, if he were to drastically change and take this role seriously then good for him.

True but the poor uneducated white voted elected him. The non college educated white voter. Every news station has said that was his driving force.

So the people least like him (aside from skin color ) voted him in.

This is going to be swell

He's going to blow us off the face of the earth

I don't feel any of this is true. It's rhetoric at best. I have never heard any audio or seen any footage of him saying he hates any particular group. Has he said some unkind things about individual people, absolutely. Has he spoken some hard truths about people who choose to break our laws, yes. No doubt he is insensitive and can be crude at times. He doesn't filter everything through the political rhetoric that so many others use. I don't think any of that means he actively hates everyone who isn't white and middle class. I think he is the first person in a long time not to spend time and energy vilifying the white middle class, and that bothers people. All of the "he hates____" has been said by other about him. All I have heard him say is that he wants to stop illegal immigration. I agree. Saying no one should be allowed to enter this country illegally is NOT racist. Do I think he is perfect, or even the best choice, no but I certainly don't think he is the racist monster he is being painted as.

He's made people less afraid to say what they really think, and it's scary. So many people I follow on Twitter are now afraid for what will happen at the hands of Trump/Pence, and their supporters.
And then there's the people who are gleefully tweeting stuff like "don't let the door hit you on the way out" , "you won't be missed". Like they don't realize that a lot of the people who want to move to Canada are afraid for their lives. It's gross.
There is no reason for anyone to be afraid for their lives. Nothing about your friends and neighbors has suddenly changed. They are the same people they were yesterday and will be tomorrow.

Thank you for both of those posts. I'm so sick of seeing people on facebook/twitter saying that everyone who voted for him is racist, sexist, etc. I didn't vote for him, but I'm not gonna sit here and be scared or judge him until he actually does something to make me feel that way. He's not the only person making decisions for this country.

I didn't vote for him either, but I am similarly tired of the alarmist, the world is ending, I 'm moving to Canada posts. I will be judging him by his actions as well.

You dont necessarily have to use the word hate to describe something you dislike. He's been more then vocal about the things he dislikes.

no.

At least as a black women, I feel completely alone. However, people who will never live life in my shoes will never understand why. Trump was endorsed by the KKK, his values don't align with the values of me or my loved ones. We lit the White House up in rainbow colors to represent what this country stands for but now we have a man full of hate as the next president. hmmm

Feeling heartbroken for all the gays, women, blacks, Hispanics, muslims and many more.

What a privilege it must be to not be sad and fearful after this election, must be nice.

I'm not afraid of my friends and neighbors. I'm definitely afraid of people who brag about sexually assaulting people and think they can do anything because they're a "star". I'm afraid of people who use "they're not attractive enough" as a reason why they're innocent of sexual assault. I'm afraid of everyone else in society who'd call me a "fat pig" like the new president would. I'm afraid of people who support "gay conversion therapy" like the new vice president does. On National Coming Out Day I was thiiiiiis close to coming out to everyone IRL as something other than 100% completely straight but now I'm definitely too afraid. And so on and so forth for other people's lives who are even more of a minority in this country than me. It only takes one rabid supporter of the ugliness Trump had spewed to make someone's fears a reality.
