Our JV squad is competitive but just because someone isn't going to be on the Varsity team in the future doesn't mean that we won't give them the option to be JV. We have many 2 or 3 kids on the JV team that might not make it to varsity in the future but we have plenty of kids that will be on Varsity. If the child shows potential then we give them the opportunity to prove to us that they can advance if they don't then either they will stay on JV till they are ready or we cut them the following season. I might not be as tough as a coach as you but I am def very competitive with my teams. It might just be the area but I have seen it many of times kids that have never done anything and have become the best cheerleaders ever.Maybe your JV squad isnt a competitive squad thats why we have different points of view. For our school our JV squad is competitive and are there to improve and win. Our JV squad is intended to get people prepared to be on Varsity. Therefore if we do not foresee a person having enough skill to be on varsity in the near future we cut them because we do not want to waste a JV position.
