@ztaprincess thank you.

@xtremeteal4life "that's the way it works lady"? But I'm obviously too emotional?

It appears we will have to agree to disagree, much like we do on so many other things. Because we are clearly not getting from each other's posts what is intended. I've watched the special numerous times. And I NEVER said I wanted CNN to follow all of them. I liked the piece, significantly more than I thought I would actually. All I said was that I understood where the emotions were coming from. Not that I think it's ok to post hateful things online, just that I understood where it was coming from - and I also said that my main point was we weren't any better for coming on here and slamming the girls that were doing it. I'm not sure why you are getting so heated, nor why you feel the need to attack me personally, but I guess it is what it is.

For the record I'm very glad you only know classy football players. I'm not sure how that happened considering that professional athletes are known for being classless and immature, but I'm glad your experience has been limited to ones that meet guidelines for "association" with you.

I think in the future we should just agree that we just aren't going to get along and save everyone pages of reading.

And no offense, but if your worried about posting something on an internet forum bc you're afraid of the backlash, you might wanna turn the computer off for a few days or rethink posting on an internet forum. This place is pretty mild compared some other forums (and that's putting it lightly)

Sorry didn't see this before I posted. I am not afraid. I said OTHER people are. People say stuff privately all the time about being afraid of the Teal Army. I'm a nobody in the cheer world so I can say whatever i want and no one cares. But other people don't have that luxury. Teal is untouchable in their world.

Notice how it was wasn't directed towards you specifically

I think everyone needs to take a step back from their computers for like an hour. Please take some time to cool down. It isn't fun for the rest of us to see everyone attacking one another.

Also, I just rewatched it again. No where in there did they say Maddie's stunt last year "won" Worlds for them, so I'm not sure why people are upset over that. They said he highlighted stunt in 2010 "helped" them win, which I believe we can all agree with.

Fair enough. I thought it was. Re-reading it i can see how you could have meant "general" you, not YOU just-a-mom.

And on that note I am taking my requested hour off.

Great Granny Shark used to make the BEST tea! I miss that.

On a completely DIFFERENT note, did anyone catch the maybe 3 or 4 minutes about allstar cheer from Cheersport in the hour BEFORE the hour about allstar cheerleading? I didn't know which hour it would be on so I recorded like 3 different shows, LOL! They interviewed cheerleaders and coaches from a number of different teams about why they believed allstar cheer should be considered a sport. CNN used it as "the judge ruled cheerleading is not a sport so wait till you see what's coming up in the next hour" kind of bait. But they showed a lot of coaches and cheerleaders from quite a few different teams and they DID include coed teams in their footage. The footage and interviews were good I thought and even the reporter interviewing them said something like "how could what they're doing NOT be considered a sport." In the end they made the point of it still NOT being a sport, but lots of teams got air time and I thought that was cool.

On another note, I was many years ago the subject of a "surprise" segment on a show some folks may remember, "Inside Edition." They showed up at a class I was conducting pertaining to all-terrain vehicles. This was back when the CPSC made a big deal about 3-wheelers not being safe and the manufacturers of quads had to provide "educational" classes to all consumers of their quads. What they TOLD me they were there for that day and what they actually did wound up being completely different. They made it seem as though they were at my class to point out what a great thing the manufacturers were doing, blah, blah. So they interviewed the class, the students, myself and did what they wanted with it. I had ABSOLUTELY no control or clue what they were going to do until I saw it on TV along with everyone else. They made fun of my students, myself, put words into our mouths, etc., etc. My point just being that TV does what they want to do and if you're the lucky, or unlucky, subject of something they are doing you really have no control over the final product.

Here's another thought: did anyone else happen to watch "Cyberbully" shortly after "CNN Presents" on the same night? I didn't actually want to watch it but did due to my kids watching it and I was very impressed with how that program presented what happens online and with all the other ways that kids can bully each other and hurt each other's feelings with today's technology. They also made some valid points, that I think my kids got, about how you need to be especially careful about how you present yourself online, and about thinking before you speak, and how words you meant one way can easily be construed in another way.

I truly enjoyed what CNN did in general, and was happy to see allstar cheer portrayed for once closer to real life. No one but those of us who've done it will ever appreciate what our kids do for the love of their sport. The LONG commutes, doing homework via domelight or cell phone light (I became quite skilled at driving with domelights on and waking up sleeping/drooling teenagers upon arrival at the gym), the stress of the CP maintaining a 4.0 on 4 to 5 hours of sleep for 9 months of the year, the never-ending ice and motrin and athletic tape we went through because stopping was never an option, no matter what the doctor says, etc., etc. But we'll NEVER, EVER regret the memories and experiences and wonderful friends made through it all!!

I really wanna say it wasn't on MTV recently that I saw it, rather another channel. The mother was the coach and her daughter was on the squad and it highlighted their competition as well. Is that the same episode?
It is on the Lifetime Real Women Network....... I have the original on vhs... one of these days when I figure how do you transfer 10,000+ tapes I will post them somewhere, somehow....?:fro:

-NO! Darn it! That would have been awesome to watch!!
-That's really sad and unfortunate :( I'm sorry that happened you...I really hate that kind of journalism (if you can even call it that)
-How ironic!!! Too bad we and all the younger athletes on this board didn't have the opportunity to watch that as well before posting huh?

I'm glad you enjoyed the special, as did I. I'm pleased they highlighted that aspect of it as well (how Courtney mentioned how so many kids traveled a couple of hours to get to practice, doing homework in the car, etc.) and kudos to your CP for striving for academic success as well at the time :)

That's it!! I knew I had seen it somewhere else before!!
