Is Maryland too full of gyms?

I hate being in Cape Cod, MA...There are 3 all star gyms here and they are all awful, and don't have open teams. So I am totally interested in joining one, but would have to drive at least 2 hours to get to a decent one. :( Too much money for someone like meeee
What gyms are on the Cape?

Here are the gyms of North Texas...

And here are the gyms of South Texas...

Sorry if you cant see the cities but you can click on the picture to make it bigger :D

Eastern PA has plenty of gyms. Many of them are smaller gyms, but there is plenty of talent! Pennsylvania Elite, keystone extreme, valley elite, Force, State, Penn Elite, Maximum, Spring Valley Heat, PA spirit explosion, Tri-State, KX Athletics, Dream Extreme. And that's on top of all the athletes who travel to NJ and MD for the bigger programs!

But what I'm saying is that PA is a large enough state that they shouldn't have to leave to MD/DE/NJ for cheer. As it is the biggest name is PA Spirit Explosion. After them are TriState and State. Everyone else is pretty small.

You cant forget the awesome Rock Starz! Than theres also Triple Threat, Dynasty Spirit Elite and CCD right in philly.

As a coach from Philly I see this EVERY SINGLE YEAR... kids from this area will start at a small gym here within the state, build there skill and than run to the gyms with the big names. do to the lack of patience, the small gyms within this area can't grow because alot of the talented kids are jumping the border. It sort of makes me wonder if it's me...but than i often see those same kids that leave my gym to go to a big name gym, constantly bouncing from gym to gym in the tri-state area... The grass isn't always greener on the other side...

It'd be nice if you had to live in the state where you are competing! One of the HS teams in Philly had a girl quit the HS team and drive all the way from Philly to World Cup. The funny thing is that there was a well known All Star gym literally down the street from the high school!

I feel like I am a part of Nitros due to every email being posted on the Fierceboard. LMAO!

@FamousRudags I had to reply to this ^^^ because I was thinking something similar. There seems to be a lot of Nitro laundry being aired out on Fierceboard.........

Moving on:

I personally don't think there's an oversaturation. Lots of states have the same (if not more) gyms in the same mile radius as we are experiencing here in MD. Besides, every gym offers different things in skill sets, morale, family enviornment, gym wide focus, coaching style (you get the point).....no 2 gyms in the Maryland area are the same. With that being said, I think it's great for the athletes and families in the DC/MD/VA area because that means you can, more often than not, find a place to call home. A gym that can offer you and your child(ren) what you're looking for. Every gym isn't for everybody. And I would much rather have a plethora of choices than be forced to cheer/coach at WXYZ Elite because of a lack of options. Does having so many great gyms in the area affect the numbers at the smaller gyms.....sure it does. But more often than not, they will be just fine!

i don't agree with that. i DO agree that there are about a million gyms in pennsylvania that you really wouldn't have to travel to another state, although some people do and that's fine. but you're saying that pse, tristate and state are the biggest names, don't get me wrong i think that they are all GREAT teams but, what about FCA, cheer tyme, pittsburgh superstars, fire and ice, etc? haha. JMO :)

i don't know if i'd say live in that state. back home, i literally live right on the PA/MD border--i know some girls that live right across it and it's closer to get to cheer tyme in greencastle than a gym in MD.

I agree. You should have to live within a certain radius of the gym! It blows my mind to see people drive past 3-4 great gyms to go to the "big name".

I'll probably be bored tomorrow... I'll see what I can do.
I got bored and did it.. you can add on though. I probably forgot some gyms. And I didn't do Maine because it wouldn't fit. But in Maine the 'bigger' gyms are Maine Stars, Elite Allstars of Maine, Maine Event, and Planet Cheer.

*I put yellow marks for gyms that consistently go to bigger competitions in the area (Spirit Sports, Athletic Championships, Spirit Fest, ect) since there are A LOT of gyms that tend to stick to the smaller competitions at high schools for their entire season.
