maybe I'll be taking the role of a spoon here (stirring the pot.. in case that joke wasn't funny and/or understandable), but I've heard multiple times that the girls of F5 haven't paid for most of those uniforms, but that doesn't matter really. I don't argue with the supposed "favouritism" of Stars, F5, Senior Elite, Orange, whoever. They are arguably the most successful teams in the gym (with the exception of maybe Supercells over F5, but I don't know specifics), and they are the best (no offence to members of any other senior level 5 teams at those gyms) senior level 5 teams at WCSS, MDT, CEA, and Rays, so of course, the younger kids strive to be on those teams one day, and of course those teams are going to be held to a higher standard, ultimately producing better athletes on those teams, and more time spent with those teams.
Also, the arena is named the Shooting Star arena because Shooting Stars (the team name at least) literally started World Cup's growth, and, if I remember correctly, was the first ever team at that gym. It has nothing to do with the current athletes on the team (who, of course, should not feel as though they are less important) it has to do with the fact that it is the most iconic and recognizable name from World Cup, regardless of their current division. I'm sure if the mini level 1 team was given that name, they'd be, in some way, incorporated in the "legacy" of the gym, possibly with an arena.
So we're both being spoons? Can I be a spork instead? Only 'cause I like taking the middle road of pot-stirrage.

I'd argue Supercells might be more successful than F5..depends on your terms of success but it's possible.

My guess is, judging by the fact that the video is now private (meaning on certain people can see it) they just forgot to mark this one private when they posted it. Oops!
I don't think it was Courtney who uploaded the SE clip that's now private and Court explained a page ago the deal w/why she uploaded med coed

2.Are other teams offered the chance to keep getting new unis? Are other girls/guys offered modeling opportunities for GK? - Appearance of favoritism

Reign kids and Black Ice kids (I mean adults) have modeled for GK... just sayin'. Not trying to get in the middle... GK picks their models. I wouldn't call that favoritism from the gym itself.

Okay everyone seems to be all upset, but I am having a hard time figuring out what exactly we are arguing over.

So just a reminder: When reading other peoples' posts, don't take things so offensively.
Example: If someone comments that you don't really know the details of the situation, don't freak out if that is actually true. They are not trying to be mean. They are just pointing out that you do not in fact know the details of the situation because it is not your team/gym/child/whatever that is involved.

Summary: Stop being so sensitive. I love you guys, but this thread is about 2-3 more posts away from being out of control.

This is like that time where everyone's 'arguing' but they're actually just yelling while unknowingly agreeing with each other..
Here's what we're all going to agree on: Unless you sit in a gym all day, every day, with those same people and know their feelings on everything from their favorite color to their favorite time of day, nobody REALLY knows what a gym is like 110%. We'd all like to think we're part of these gyms lives, but we're a small fraction. To speak of these gyms in absolutes is silly. This is where words like 'appearance' or 'appears to be' are REALLY handy (hence why I've used them in my posts). This indicates that it is how a situation comes across, not how we know (or do not know) it to actually be.

Back to your regularly scheduled sneak peeks (and for two seconds, I spelled it wrong because I was trying so hard to spell it right lol).

WARNING: You are about to read an extremely long rant unrelated to the title of this thread!

Just once I'd like to see a gym owner come out and say "(insert level 5 team here) is my favorite. I do spend a little bit more time on them. I do think about aspects I can add to their routine when I'm coaching other teams. I do put more time and effort into their routine. I'm willing to bend a little bit more if an athlete with an awesome double can't pay their tuition or comp fees on the due date, as opposed to a front spot with no tumbling. And yes,I do stack their team at tryouts. If you don't think it's fair, I got something to say to you: LIFE'S NOT FAIR!"

People who claim that coaches don't play favoritism when it comes to teams are just ignorant. Their business is like anything in life. Do you have a parent that you like a little more than the other? Are you willing to make the same sacrifices for every single person you call a friend? Do you have a favorite flyer, backspot, or base you like to stunt with as opposed to others? OF COURSE! That is the way the human mind works. We will naturally take favoritism over something else. Just because I like my mom more than my dad doesn't mean I don't love my dad. Just because I have one or two BEST friends, doesn't mean I don't ever wanna hang out with any of my other friends. Take any gym in the entire country, and then take a look at their level 5 teams. If they have more than one level 5 team, compare routines from the past couple years. The team that does some sort of new choreography, the team that gets the new uniforms just a competition before everyone else, the team that consistently wins their gym world championships; I got some news for you. The team that does those things is the favorite. It doesn't mean a coach doesn't love their other teams, it just means if a coach has to put the name of their gym behind one team, that team is it.

rant over. Proceed with sneak peeks. or whatever topic we decide to make this thread about next.

I wouldn't say its sad. If you're at a good gym, you're gonna get treated with respect and get the best training possible for you to better your skills regardless of whether you are on the "IT" team or not. Gyms do have to uphold their reputations though and that's often done through the team that's is in the public eye most. Are the kids and coaches on Odyssey, Smoke, and Reign working hard to max out their score sheets across the board (doubles, standing fulls, ticks tocks, etc etc)? You bet they are. But when the majority of people who know WC, Rays, and MT are searching youtube for Shooting Stars, Orange, and F5, marking their competition brochures to be at the stage to see those teams, and obsessing over just a glimpse of their practice all over the fierceboards, those girls and coaches are under even more pressure to perfect their skills and to not disappoint the massive fanbase.

I used specifics above, but I mean everything I said generally in reference to this discussion.
