From wikipedia; "The name "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" was introduced in 1927 by the Royal and Parliamentary Titles Act to reflect the granting of independence to the Irish Free State in 1922, which left Northern Ireland as the only part of the island of Ireland still within the UK". The impression I got from wikipedia is that 'Great Britain' is the name of the island which contains England, Scotland and Wales.
Thank you..geography is usually one of my better subjects, but the nature of that whole issue always has confused me.

Okay let me rephrase. I don't think that you know enough people in the gymnastics world to be making statements like "9/10 gymnasts don't like Nastia". Maybe you know 9 people that don't (and that is fine) but I don't think that you should be so rude to people that try to contradict that statement. Also the quickest way to make enemies on here is to use the phrases "I am right" and "You are wrong". Nobody is ever really right or wrong on here.

And tha's we're your wrong. You no absolutely nothing about me, I do international projects in working with a variety of gymnast all over the world, through emails and visits and even letters. I've competed through out the US in nationl USAG level 8-9 meets. I think I know what I'm talking about.

@GVAD_bradyelizabeth said it best, with the new scoring system, gymnasts and spectators alike are favouring Shawn's style, it scores higher (with the exception of bars), and is actually quite remarkable what she can do physically. Most people no longer appreciate Nastia's BEAUTIFUL style, it seems to be a style lost to the good ol' days.. pre-04.
Yes @MDMARLINS_SHANNONRENEE*, you are quite out of line making bold statements like you did, and yes, they did come off rude. I could not care less if you were a level 8 or 9 gymnast, or whether you were elite, there are tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands, of gymnasts in the USA, so to say "9/10 gymnasts don't like Nastia", like @carolinagirl823 is a bigger statement than you're capable of making.
Personally, I have seen a larger favouring to Shawn's style, it's the same reason gymnasts like Jordyn Weiber and Alicia Sacramone are also loved a lot, not only by judges, but by spectators alike. With female gymnastics, people no longer care about the artistry, we care about the big tumbles (Well.. most people). Also, as I and other people have said, the gymnastics community's opinion on Nastia has NOTHING to do with her on the selection committee. She knows more about gymnastics than 99% of the people who say she shouldn't be on it, and we're acting like she'll have the same decision-making as Marta... At this point, Nastia will probably sit there, throw in her opinion every 20 minutes, it will most likely be ignored, and Marta will pick the team how she sees fit. She's a newcomer to that aspect of gymnastics, but she's an AMAZING representation of the sport (Whether you like it or not, she has one of the highest Worlds/Olympic medal counts of any female gymnast), and will continue to coach, and probably judge, in the future, so why not start her early when she's still such a relevant public figure?

Ummm was my post directed to you.. I didn't think so. <<<<<<< This should come off as rude.

There are a many of us on here that are involved in the gymnastics world, not just you. Yes, your opinion about Nastia is YOUR opinion-which is perfectly fine, but it may not be everyone's opinion. Keep in mind that everybody likes different styles of gymnastics, you just tend to like Shawn's better. That doesn't mean everyone, or even the majority prefers her.

While your on the board, please try and keep in mind everyone elses opinions. In most cases, there are no right and wrong answers like your trying to make this out to be.
:)

I'm not making out anything except the fact that people are posting things about me when they don't even know me. And no, if you were all so "Involved" with the gymnastics world. Are you a commitee member of USAG? What was the last meet yo went to? Whose top ranked in the junior womens elite divisions? Who performs the most difficult eliment on bars in womens elite? What's US women's toughest competitor come worlds? Whose currently ranked # one in the world for mens gymnastics? What male gymnast hates pmmel horse and even has a shirt that says otherwise? Whose on the women's national commitee? Have you ever trainned at IGC all summer? Who runs IGC? Do you know what IGC is?

I've had with cheerleaders that think they know everything and think they can do anything or say anything. Ugh, I'm so done with all of this cheer drama crap going onn everywhere!

And tha's (that's) we're (where) your (you're) wrong. You no (know) absolutely nothing about me, I do international projects in working with a variety of gymnast (s) all over the world, through emails and visits and even letters. Correction: We don't know a lot about you, but we do know your spelling/grammar skills are lacking quite a bit. Perhaps you should concentrate less on your big, important gymnastics meets and more on your 3rd grade education. I hear employers prefer the ability to spell and form coherent sentences over a level 8 beam medal.

Woah woah, please calm down. This is only the Fierceboard. The majority of us do not know each other, arguing on here will not get you anywhere. Remember who you are representing with your name. As a huge Tsunami fan, I would hate to lose any respect for a favorite large senior team of mine, because of one person's posts on the Fierceboard.

This statement confuses me a lot. Sweetheart you're the one the joined the fierceboard. If you seem to hate cheerleaders and their "drama", then why are you on here? And I dont even think this can be considered drama. Its just a conversation.... dont take it so personal

I don't need to know anything about gymnastics to realize your attitude in posting is coming off as harsh, rude, unnecessary, arrogant, and childish. I don't know 99.9% of people here on the fierceboard, and of the less than 10 who I consider to 'know' moderately well I've met maybe 3 in person, two of whom I cheered with. Yet you don't need to know somebody to recognize a 'tude. Congrats if you DO know that information and maybe you've got skills, but nobody likes somebody who gets their kicks with arrogance and ASSUMING. Congrats, you've been all over the world, or are conversing with people as such. So have I..I spent 5 months in Ireland, plus a few weeks traveling the continent and Scotland.. I still wouldn't presume to know how somebody in Youghal feels about Brian O'Driscoll or assume that just because 10 people told me they prefer Murphy's over Guinness that Murphy's is better. Or a Parisians preference of crepe.

The only drama I can see is the stuff you're trying to bring here. We're all chill (for once).

THAT ASIDE: I posted it in the Random Section, but I know a lot of us here like to chat about gymnastics so I figured we could:

Worlds Team announced. Pan Am Games Team announced. Chellsie Memmel replaced due to shoulder injury. Thoughts?

I wanted Shawn on the worlds team so badly. But I see why she wasn't, and she'll kick butt from now until London!

It seems like the 'newer' crop girls are going to London (minus Alicia Sacremone who I assume is there for stability/maturity buffer)..while most of the really strong players plus a few people I'm not familiar with are going to Pan Am. Will be interesting to see how things go..
