Tell her to keep her head held high!! I tried out my freshman year and didnt make it.:( I tried out again 2 years later and made it on to varsity and also cheered in college...its a crazy world:rolleyes: As many have said ...hello she cheers for Cali anyway and it really doesnt get much better than that!!

a level 5 cheerleader form our gym (had running full and was working double full) did not make her college cheer team despite exceeding all the tumbling requirements (she is a very pretty/graceful tumbler) and having high school experience. Happens to the best of them and can only make them stronger. Good luck you your CP in the future.

I used to never get picked for dodge ball in HS and now. . . .well I still don't play dodge ball but I get to fly airplanes so I guess that's not so bad for me. (guess that's a pretty pointless story)

If she tried her best she can't control if people will be silly around her. She can stand tall and be proud of herself and who she is.

Guess some teams don't want WORLDS MEDALISTS on their team? She's much better off not joining them, Ms. Cali smoed!

After being a MS cheerleader 6th and 7th grade, my cp didn't make the 8th grade squad - lots of tears. So I enrolled her at the local cheer gym to try and get her BHS. The next spring she was invited to try out for their all star squad and she loved it. She ended up making HS cheer her 9th grade year, but a year on two teams was too much, so the next year she chose All Star only. This is her 4th and last year :( as a Devilray. She loves it with all her heart and is already dreading the last comp. But she never would have become a Devilray if she had made that 8th grade team. Best wishes to your baby.

If I remember correctly Michael Jordan didn't make his school basketball team the first time he tried out either. Keep your head up little lakerfan and focus on bringing home a ring this year!!

I'm always shocked to hear things like this! It happened to me in hs. I tried out my junior year and didn't make it. There was supposed to be a bhs requirement, I threw a standing tuck, and didn't make it when girls who didn't have any tumbling did. It was a private school with lots of politics so I transferred and cheered elsewhere. Looking back it was the best thing that could have happened to me. Had I not transferred I don't know how the last 8 years of my life would have been different. Tell her something bigger and better is waiting for her and this wasn't meant to be. I also fully believe that anyone who doesn't take the best for whatever reason gets what they deserve. The team I got cut from had a terrible year and two weeks after tryouts the coach came and asked if I would join after one girl quit and 2 got injured. The coach was also "released" from her position later that season. Any coach who doesn't take a cali kid has got to be crazy!

I agree - everything happens for a reason, and this is totally their loss!! Keep your little chin up Jenee :)

I didn't make my high school cheering team my freshman year, despite having the requirements and cheering all stars for years at a well known successful gym. I made it my next year, but was an alternate for competition team all 3 years. My senior year I was the only senior that didn't compete. The politics that come with cheering can be crazy. tell her to keep her head up :)

As long as she can look in the mirror and know she gave it her all, than nothing more can be done. She can hold her head high and chin up as she struts around in her Cali Uggs.
