I would like to see Top Gun's Day 1 performance as well. They did look great on day 2, but heard that they didn't do so well on day 1, yet were still in 1st place. If they looked good both days and earned that bid, then great. Maybe someone that was there and saw them both days could let us know more about how day 1 went and if they thought they deserved to be in 1st after Day 1.

They definitely didn't look like Top Gun on Day 1. Everything was completely watered down, but some stuff still didn't hit. Even with watered down tumbling, they were still competely out tumbling every team there. They had tons of standing fulls, 3 to doubles, and then a bunch of hand hand full fulls, which will obviously double. As far as stunting, they went did straight ups, and 1/4 turn tick ups, and one group did an arabesque full around to lib, so I'm assuming that will be their stunts, which is impressive once they start doing it. I'm anxious to see how that turns out because even the straight ups didn't look....effortless. They definitely put on a show on Day 2, and that dance is so hot. I don't think they are as amazing or as innovative as they were the last 2 years, but they're still very good.

socratesofcheer beat me to it...but you can't possibly think this is why we will NEVER be considered a sport? I was actually reading this thinking "Oh yay! Maybe now we can be considered a sport!" ALL sports do things like this. Sports are governed by money. Money money money. And anything controlled by money is NEVER going to be completely fair to all parties. Sorry...that's life.
i'm kinda tired of always hearing "this is why we won't ever be considered a sport"
and this is not directed towards you, just a general statement :)

exactly, and i really dont think its far to those teams who for wxample cant get a bid in indy becasue they dont have to tumbling or somthing in that range. i understand they go up against those teams at worlds but for some teams its just the experience of worlds not going there and winning.

If you were a gym owner basing where to compete off of not inconveniencing programs outside your own you wouldn't be in business very long. Our Worlds teams spent thousands of dollars last year going to two out of state competitions which they won and even got Grand Champs at one and were not awarded paid bids at either. Going to this competition was a business decision for our gym used to help secure a paid Worlds bid, b/c as a gym we feel that if our teams are eligible for a paid bid throughout the season and don't receive one than they probably shouldn't be competing at Worlds. I understand that not everyone thinks this way but for our program Paid or Not At All is a positive push for our athletes knowing that they have to be on point as much as possible.

For those who gave congrats, thank you, this years i5 is comprised of many new members to our program, some of whom have never had the opportunity to be on a team of this caliber and are ecstatic. Trust that they will be in the gym working on the next phase of upgrades and choreography to help defend those globes ;-)

Thanks NEliteSteven, that helps.

The real problem here is xtreme spirit as a whole. It really is no surprise why XS has lost some of the biggest names in the midwest such as UA and GBE. Also is no surprise why ICE never goes to xtreme spirit competitions. This weekend was seriously a WASTE of time and money. We also will NEVER be going back to an xtreme spirit competition. Regardless of other sports and money, this was very wrong. How are you as a competition owner going to pay a team in one way or another to come to your competition and then pay for them to go to worlds?! Like seriously?! what is wrong with you? Not only is this unfair because Top Gun was already pretty much guaranteed that bid, but it makes Xtreme Spirit look TERRIBLE. Oh and dont think that top gun stayed in just any hotel, they stayed in a luxurious house paid by xtreme spirit. Not to take credit away from Top Gun, but in my opinion Indiana Ultimate is the one that really deserved that paid bid. Top guns performance on day one would have not scored the way they did at any other competition! They were 9 POINTS AWAY FROM A PERFECT SCORE, WITH 5 DROPPED STUNTS. Not including their other mistakes. Indiana Ultimate had just as much difficulty if not more and they were far behind Top Gun. Oh and not to mention that the panel of judges arent even real judges, they had some 18 19 year olds with no knowledge of level 5 cheerleading. Xtreme Spirt should NOT be aloud to give out bids, after this weekend, numerous coaches are writing letters to USASF because this is seriously a sorry excuse of a world bid competition. Warm ups were messed up and not in order, and there was serioulsy like a half hour gap in between every teams performance. We had such a long wait from our warm up to the time that we actually had to perform that there really was no point of even "warming up". You could also tell that the owner of xtreme spirit kept going up to the judges table and seemed as if they were constantly arguing about something.. it really looked a little odd and to put the cherry on top XS treated top gun like GODS. When they performed they closed all their booths and all went up to the judges tables to record them...., they also had security scooting people back from the mat when they came on, they didnt do that for any other team. All that xtreme spirit accomplished this weekend is getting a WORSE reputation. I really hope USASF does something about this. I hope xtreme spirit realizes how much business they have lost. all just in the dream of having a team such as top gun represent you at worlds.

So I feel like if members of Top Gun are coming forward and saying that they didn't get a personal invite, chances are it didn't happen.
Some people need to just calm down.

If you deserve a paid bid, YOU WILL GET IT AT SOME POINT IN THE SEASON.

Before we all go flying off the deep end about this, I think we should take a deep breath and relax. For one thing, I think it's very serious to assume that Xtreme Spirit paid for them to come, paid for rooms at the Kalahari, or earned the bid unfairly. Did you hear this from the someone at Xtreme Spirit? Or are you assuming? From what I have read on this thread, there are many people that feel they earned the bid. I don't know because I wasn't there, so I won't assume I know anything.
