I can't stand it when people brag about getting first and being National Champs when they didn't compete against anyone. How can you even begin to think its a competition when its clearly not. Why would you even pay the comp fee or money to travel knowing what you would already get? Or why would you sign up at the last minute...so you can see what level would be the easiest to compete in or what level has no competition? What a joke!!!

i tbink this was already discussed but its to early for me to look for it.
i dont see anything wrong with it considering you cant control who goes to what comp.
and most comps that i know you have to get a certain score in order to get the Banner/Jacket

I think Super Nationals schedule was out almost 2 weeks before the comp...and had like 2 revisions to the schedule still not on the schedule...then two days before they sign up. Gym name is not even on the shirts they took so long to register. I think its pointless especially with the comp fee for Super Nationals. Then to go on Facebook and claim you won in a division that our team won. Hahaha!!

Let them be happy? Why does it concern you lol
They can be happy, which obviously they are. I'm just saying its pointless to go to a comp with no one else competing. You might as well go as an exhibition.

well why exhibition when you can come home with a prize and banner.
i wouldnt exhibition.

If those kids are proud of themselves and their performance, does it matter if they were against zero or 200 teams? In my opinion, no. It is not the kids choice of when their gym registers or who they are against. It just happens. Kids still have the right to be excited and proud for getting out on that competition floor and doing their best, and their parents and coaches have a right to be happy that their kids are proud of themselves.

This happened to our team at an 'international' competition (although I class it as a nationals) in the UK. We were the only squad in our level stunt group so automatically 'won'. We didn't drop out as you dont get your fees/travel/accommodation money back and they don't release the schedule until about a week before. So seeing as we had already paid out quite alot of money we still competed. We got the trophy regardless (we could have just stood there), but that EP also does a 'star' rating for teams on their own in a division. I'd have preferred to have been against at least one team, just so you know you had so competition and that you really did deserve that placing. Then again it gave me a massive confidence boost going out there and performing the routine, regardless of how many teams, the fact we went out there and competed a routine (with 3 replacements as people left last minute) was a bigger achievement than the 'champion' title we got

Entering a category because you know you'll be the only team, seems like they are 'scared' of having competition and just competing to say 'Gym A have x amount of national titles'. Then again it could just happen that they are the only team in that area, at that level, going to that nationals.

:)

I agree, going to a cheerleading COMPETITION is not a COMPETITION unless you compete against someone. If there is no competiton then it is for show. Not that that's a bad thing, you still gain experience and have the thrill. But I think they should be awared wtih some sort of exibition prize, not National Champions, first place over nobody.

They went to a National Championship as a Senior Coed 5 - Non Worlds. You would think they would go Senior Coed Restricted 5. Guess they just wanted the jackets. Oh well!! I do get that the kids are happy and they tried their best. It just seems silly to me and a waste of money.
