i think this competition is an excellent idea! it gives people who may not make it to worlds a very similar "worlds" type expirience. it seems like it would be a bit different from us finals and the IALC, but in a good way

I'm a sucker for good movie quotes. And shenanigans.

All I know is that if these senior 1 teams walk around with World Champion rings on their fingers while I'm still trying to get one in the level 5 division, i'm gonna be extremely pissed lol.:deadhorse:
Wow. I usually don't bite on these but this one caught my attention. What I'm getting from this is that the only people "worthy" of a world championship ring is a senior five. There are kids on level one teams that work their tails off to be the best they can be, and frankly have more competition in terms of sheer numbers of teams to compete against than lv 5s will have.

I don't think they should be automatically discounted because they don't have a back handspring. Everyone should be given the ability to succeed at their level, whatever that level may be. Otherwise how will they ever GET to lv 5? Are they as "good" as a level 5, no, but do they deserve to at least be recognized as the best in their division, no matter what division that is, absolutely.

Before I even read the post, I'm just going to say that I'm not trying to criticize the other levels or attack them in a negative way by questioning their work ethics or their worthiness of rings and stuff, but I think that the world champion ring should be strictly designated for the level 5 athletes and a new prize should be made for the other level teams that is just as notable. I don't even know if the worlds rings will be the prize for this new competition, but we'll have to wait and find out. Sorry if it hit you the wrong way, but opinions can be interpreted in many different ways over the internet

What I will agree with you on is that nothing should say world champion unless they competed against international teams. It's like calling Super Bowl champs, world champions. I've never gotten that, it's not like the packers play Zimbabwe or something. And level 5 teams tend to be the only ones with international competition. I'll definitely agree with the idea that "world" champion should be limited to only those who competed against...well, the world.

Couldn't agree more and I have a level 2 kid that may or may not ever be level 5. It gives her something to aspire to!

I think I can appreciate acknowledging teams that are fantastic in their division with a great work ethic and drive, without giving the impression that they're the best team out of all levels (Although hypothetically that would make level 6 the highest, when that's currently not quite the case). Because you KNOW you're gonna have some girl wanting to show off her 'World Champion' junior 2 *insert prize here* like she single-handedly killed a manticore. I think there should be a reward with perspective- like 'Good on you for being awesome at your level! You may not be at the top of the ability chain, but what you CAN do is awesome!'

kristenthegreat Get thee to Doral stat! Manticore massacres have the potential to fix all the current cheer problems. Makes scoresheets, tumbling restrictions, uniform issues irrelevant. I mean, either the manticore is dead, or it's not, right? Half top? You'll be covered in blood. I do, however, have an issue with the "single-handedly" part, this is a team sport after all.

If I didn't love my life, the only word I'd write was: 'Dead.'
