They're reasoning for taking out double downs is that less then 50% of teams that competed in UCA HS Nationals FINALS (the best teams that were down there) didn't complete the full double down cradle and a lot of injuries were reported from double downs.
Braced flips aren't really all that hard or dangerous. It makes sense if you think about it from a safety standpoint.

I thought the braced flips were gonna be a disaster, but I watched Missouri state (where I'm from) and they were actually fine. Even the most tragic teams (By Missouri standards, theeyd get laughed at anywhere in Georgie, we're talking sketchy prep full downs) did the inversions fine.

My team was always one of two that doubled at state, and that was two allstar flyers, so I guess it makes sense. Thats what I get for jumping to the "Heel over head = deadly" conclusion without seeing any results first...

I think they look great for so early in the season. If they add difficulty every 30 days imagine how good they'll be in April!!! (This isn't toward you personally Andrew just used your post as a jumping off point. LOL)

Disclaimer........I always go through the new video threads every season reluctantly just for this reason. I just want everyone to remember that's it's super early and watch all these teams with some imagination. Worlds is 6 months away. How many teams will be considerably better in 6 months? I'd venture to say most of them!!! I want to give a shoutout to all the teams/programs that have the guts to get on the mat in Oct warts and all. I for 1 think you're doing great!! Good luck to everyone on the rest of your season!!!!

I mean, they had a hitch up and a tick tock, and a suicide.
It looked like the straight up in the beginning was where a full up was choreographed, but was taken out for that comp. 2 release moves, a rotation, and a dismount: seems pretty on par with what is expected.

They just need to do some hardcore cleaning.
