After all the hype, those kids were just not ready for that performance...at all. Interested to see if they will "buy different kids" to do the performance tonight. Just kidding, but im sure if they could they would.

They aren't recognizable like Angel.

Also, I'll say it. Those stunts needed Gabi. She would have been the star and taken away from the average stunts and made it wow.

They were running ads in a local magazine that introduced a lot of the kids. Didn't really say where they were from but most had been cheering for 4-5 yrs and at least one of the boys is a nationally ranked tumbler. I'll have to go back and look at the ads to be sure but my guess is the kids came from all over as well as johns creek.

Not to make this a Gabi discussion but it makes me wonder at least if the stunts etc weren't coreographed with her as point flyer. Then when she left either they didn't change it or struggled to change it and still make it work.

Gabi's flexible, I'll give her that, but nothing I've seen from her has ever given me an indication that she's anything more than just an average flyer. No offence to her at all, she's a beautiful flyer, but I don't see her being exceptional over most flyers in level 5 outside of flexibility.

uhm . . .

Impressive, yes. But easily possible for other flyers, and 99% of the work done in that stunt is by the bases. She went straight up at Worlds last year and I'm supposed to believe she's some remarkable flyer?

ETA: I should say in the 2nd 1 1/2 up most work is done by the bases, not through the whole stunt, but 1 1/2 to squish is still not remarkably impressive.

you're entitled to your opinion, of course. but a coach choosing to have her go straight up in a routine doesn't mean she isn't talented. she's just doing the choreography given to her. i think part of it is that she's never been on a team willing to showcase a single athlete. TG doesn't strike me as a "highlight stunt" kind of gym.

You can have the strongest bases but with a weak flyer the stunt will never hit. She has amazing body control and beautiful technique with every skill she does.

The issue here would actually be more along the lines of "fair use" than anything else. I can use a trademark as long as the use of that trademark doesn't imply some endorsement of the product. That's why you see trademarked logos in parodies sometimes. In this case, does naming your team Dolce & Gabbana imply some kind of endorsement? Perhaps, perhaps not. Again, if I'm an Italian fashion house, shooting off letters to All-star cheer teams to cease and desist using a logo is probably very low on my list of priorities.

I wouldn't bet on it, because I know that lots of big name fashion houses call out cake-makers (lots of whom stay-at-home-moms earning a little money for the family) for using their logos - even if it was just one single cake they sold with the logo on it.
So I guess it's only a matter of time for them to get to Trinity.

I was just looking at their website where they have a shirt that appears to have all their team logos on them. It looks like each one has a Fleur de Lis in it so it's not an exact reproduction of the logo - similar to their use of the Majors logo. Don't think they can do anything about them changing the logo.

Also, didn't someone say that GA used the same names while Gianni was there? Did they use the logos as well? If so I'm guessing it wasn't an issue for them so.......

Still haven't figured out how to post a picture or I'd post the shirt - sorry

So I don't necessarily agree with those who are saying that we should feel bad for all the kids and blame it on the adult/ gym etc because these kids are senior age athletes. And I'm pretty sure they are not oblivious to what's going on. If they didn't want to deal with the mess they shouldn't have stuck around. But that's just MO

Agreed, I think it is only a matter of time before the right someone calls attention to it. It not only falls into the whole trademark and copyright infringement area, it's use of someone else's intellectual property.

But that flexibility stands out... At the majors it stuck out because everything she did was almost a totally different position than everyone else... I think not
putting her on point is super distracting. At trinity, she was probably point and doing a highlight stunt that would have distracted from some of the other not so great stunts...

My OCD bothers me during their routine. They have 4 boys that tumble from the front out to the back, but have another open section for another person. Could the other boy not afford to come to the comp? ;)
