All-Star Cea Expanding....

Im sorry but if this gym is opening up in PA, i think its completely disrespectful to the gyms in that area that could end up losing kids to this expansion. So many other larger gyms such as Cheer athletics, World cup, Top gun and many others could have expanded beyond to what CEA is doing now. But they didnt. Im sure there are millions of reasons why they dont expand to different states and areas but im pretty positive that one of the reasons is out of respect for other gyms. Over all i think it is just outrageous to expand all the way to PA if that is where this new gym is going to be. Sorry again but CEA's ego does not need to get any bigger than it already is, especially with all of this cheerlebrity nonsense going on.

Although I understand what you are saying, cheerleading is a business. If this makes sense for CSP financially as a business owner, then so be it. She is in the business of making money and doing what she loves. If the opportunity comes up, someone is going to take it, whether it's her or someone else. If it is a case of buying out a gym that is struggling, it's probably the best option they have. If local gyms are boo hoo-ing about it, my message to them is step up and make sure you have a better product than they do. If you can't do that, you don't deserve their business anyways.

i'm not contributing to this argument either way, but both TG and WC have two locations. while one is clearly more prominent than the other for both programs, they still both own more than 1 location.

I don't think it is the idea of expansion that is upsetting. Heck my gym has five gyms in the state of Virginia and one in New York. It's the reasoning behind why PA would be a successful location that is the issue. I would argue, with a bias, that my program offers the best product available in the state, but you take the coach of our level 5 team, who is loved by many, and you place him at another program in the area...I promise you many kids would leave just to follow a coach that they love. So there in lies the problem for me. A coach leaves a program and goes to CEA to coach. So this creates now this concept that should a gym open in their old home town, then athletes will leave their old program to come cheer for them again in the new program. Probably more than the general public really needs to know but oh well. Hate me, be mad, I don't care. She is a brilliant business woman but her ethics are nearly nonexistent. This will be the second time a gym was opened with the hope of taking business from another...enough is enough

Do I think it's a bit excessive? Yes. Especially considering some of the gyms in NC are pretty dang small and close together. However, to each their own. If they're able to turn a profit and put in the hours/travel opening a gym hundreds of miles away, great. They have a name in the business and will definitely pull in more than enough kids in the area to be fairly successful. I just think it's hard to keep consistancy among teams. I think Cali has done the best job when it comes to that.

I agree with you. Cali has found a way to open gyms in areas that aren't littered with gyms on every corner. and when it comes to consistency i also agree. No disrespect to CEA, but Calis focus isnt on having a level 5 team in every single category, they focus on getting all of their level 5s to the same skill level and they do a good job of it.

I don't have an issue with expanding your business, but I fail to understand why, aside from it being a possible financial/business benefit. The only time I've ever really agreed with people expanding gyms/opening in new locations is when there's a necessity or desire for it from the community around. For example (I believe this story is general common knowledge so I should be okay to talk about it), a decently-sized gym here in Canada closed after last season (I wouldn't be able to tell you why as I've heard mixed stories), and, to my understanding, the athletes at that gym wanted to stay together and stay a family rather than go to a gym in the surrounding area. Here you are with a bunch of athletes and parents who do not want to leave, but no gym to train under, and eventually a large, successful gym comes in, uses the same location, many of the same coaches (I believe...) and almost every single athlete that was there the year before. It wasn't a business venture, it wasn't for money, but more to keep this family together, if that makes sense? To me that kind of a situation is where I'd want to open a new gym, not because I could profit from it or could do it to hurt someone.
