I think coaches rooms are one of the dumbest things ever invented and I used to coach. I don't think coaches should be hiding away in a room when they are there to work with athletes, especially the younger ones. I know a lot of people will disagree saying coaches need their space, time to talk to other adults, etc but IMO you're there to coach, not socialize.
coaches are NOT coaching the entire time at a comp. there is down time in between teams and awards. it's nice to have a place to get away and also connect with coaches from other programs. You obviously are not understanding this. coaches are not allowed to socialize?? seriously??

If you're at an event for 12+ hours it's nice to have a spot to chill for a little and get away from psycho parents, loud music, eat in peace and get to know other programs. Most coaches are not in the coaches room for the entire day.. more like an hour total out of the 12+ hour day. On any other job, you'd be allowed multiple breaks so what is different about a competition?

I so agree. Most competitions are spent running from warmup to competition floor back to warmup. When we actually do get a moment to sit, it's nice to be out of the arena with the blaring music (by this time, massive headaches begin). The coaches room is a nice spot, away from the craziness. A lot of contacts are made that end up being beneficial to programs. Plus, it's nice to read and go over scoresheets without everyone breathing down your neck.

ETA: if the coaches aren't there to socialize, than neither are the kids. Half the fun of competitions are meeting up with friends you haven't seen in awhile. This is no different, whether you are an adult or child. Competitions are the place where all the hard work comes together and you get to enjoy yourself. If I wasn't allowed to enjoy a competition, why would I want to go?

and it would be pretty sad if i wasn't allowed to socialize with you.;)

Coaches that dress like hookers at competitions.... This is a cheer competition not a strip club. Put your boobs away. Sorry not sorry...
Kills me every time. I always wondered how they managed to walk in stilettos all day....then I noticed they were barefoot and carrying their shoes about an hour in. 1st, that's gross. Who knows what's on that floor, and 2nd, I want to actually be comfortable all day.

I don't see this a whole lot but when I do I'm just left wondering who's supposed to actually be performing.

It's so impractical to dress like you're going out.

I mean, I've worn low heels when I coached volleyball, but that was senior night and I didn't need to do anything :p

I can barely walk in heels for 3 hrs. I don't get how you're supposed to run around in them for 12 hours. Not saying coaches must look frumpy or they're a terrible person (there's nothing wrong with looking adorable- CSP always looks GORG. I'm jealous), but my bad feet should stay as firmly attached to the ground as the situation allows.

ha ha ha!! now that's funny!!!
True, but funny!!:D

Yesterday I went to a competition to watch. The coaches at all of the other gyms came out the sides before their teams went on... this one ran out the middle... in her heels... I cant even.

We were at a janktastic competition yesterday. Bleacher seating. We sat near the top to see over the judges screen and see the floor. On BOTH sides of us two entire groups of people decided it would be more comfortable to sit on the stairs of the bleachers. They totally camped out there and glared at you if you were trying to walk up and down the bleachers. We had to walk up/down the bleachers themselves and couldn't use the stair part because they wouldn't move.....including our jr girl... In a boot! Seriously?!

Or judges. I always enjoy watching some of them walk to their tables in their too-high heels which they haven't quite mastering walking in yet.

We had a team that had all it's coaches dressed like this a few weekends back, it was astonishing to watch these coaches try to sit on the floor watching their teams (they had many) compete. I'm pretty sure the judges behind them got a view of more than they needed to. Funny moment in the rest room with some of our minis when they saw these coaches walk in dressed as they were, had to rush our girls out because they couldn't help but gawk and point.....
