I hope you girls were ok. That was pretty cringe-worthy

Yeah I'm fine. A really terrible concussion and a bruised elbow. It could've been so much worse.
I'm glad nothing more serious than a concussion (still pretty serious though) happened.
One of my sr girls just got released from a concussion she got from a tumbling collision (a round off snap down to the head as she was coming out of her first bhs, then slammed her head into the floor when she flew back). Be super careful and don't return too soon!

That's 100% of my problem right now... This happened Friday on my high school cheer team, and I'm on two more teams for Allstar. And we have a competition on Sunday. My doctor hasn't released me to go back to practicing yet. I being such a big part of each team I feel like I'm letting everyone down..

Please please please don't compete. I had a bad concussion senior year and four days later I competed because I didn't want to miss my last comp and I was literally center for the whole routine. I fell from a stunt at that comp because my balance still was out of whack and it made things worse. Years later, I still get headaches and have visual disturbances because of the nerve damage where I hit my head. I promise it is not worth it. Also as hard as it seems, don't use your phone/computer/electronics. Feel better soon and good luck recovering!

I agree. Don't practice or compete until you are cleared. It's so important. You have the rest of your life. But if you don't take time to rest and heal you won't have the rest of your life.

Ouch! I'm glad youre relatively OK. Did it knock you out? Poor thing! Im with everyone else.. and as a mama have to say, do NOT go back before you're cleared. Nothing on this earth is more important than your health!

I know that the pressure to help the team is weighing on you, but you would be letting the team down if you were to go back before you where cleared and then get re-injured. Right now it doesn't seem like a big deal, but it would be much worse if you were to go to practice/competition and get hurt again. As others have said you have to think long term as well. You aren't letting your team down by being responsible, you are setting a well needed example of how to do things the right way so you can continue cheering for as long as you want!

I had a concussion earlier this year, and it's not something you should push yourself to do something unless you've been cleared. I went and worked out because I was out for a month and it made my concussion worse and it can lead to problems later in life if you don't give yourself the right amount of time to heal. Does anyone's school do the online impact test for concussions? At the beginning of the year, football, cheer, soccer, and I think softball had to take the impact test. It's a series of questions, takes a while. I actually never took it because I was scheduled to take it later then I got a concussion before I took it. Hahah but then when you think you have a concussion or head injury you go back to the trainer and take it again and if you failed you "most likely" have a concussion. Just wondering if anyone else's schools do the same thing

I just had a concussion I cant go on the computer/iphone/watch TV for longer than 20 minutes or I get a splitting headache. im a backspot and My coach had my pod try a "teddy bear" and then while my flyer was still in straddle they would throw her over my head but my bases didn't throw her far enough and she hit me so I have whiplash and concussion that was last wed after the hit I kept practicing my jump sequence but I felt loopy, this is my second injury this season so I didn't wanna tell my coaches so I went the rest of the practice with a bad headache and when I got in the car I burst into tears. its Tuesday today and I cant go to school!! I have a bunch of essays but I always feel like fainting if I concentrate too hard. this morning I got a CT scan but results still aren't in and im scared but my mom is terrified, all weekend she was watching videos about people paralyzed for life because of concussions. I know mine isn't that bad but its still really painful. I haven't been cleared either but I NEED to get back to practice. last night I went and watched tho.

Always remember, as much as we all love Cheer and are obsessed with it, it's still only a Sport. And it is definitly not worth risking your health and wellbeing.
Hope you are feeling better soon!
