SEVideo I know one video company lets you buy each division for like $10 and then the more you buy, the cheaper each DVD gets. I can't for the life of me remember who it was but I distinctly remember they had A LOT of business that day.

Hmm... Were they delivering the DVDs at the event or did you have to wait weeks for them to edit and mail them? Typically we include an entire division on one DVD that you can buy and take home with you at the event. (although we ARE a bit more expensive than $10 per division) :)

Is $10 for ONE team an unreasonable amount? I think that's probably the most I'd pay for a DVD of my kid's team and that's if they hit that day. Considering it's about 3 minutes of time and I can get a DVD of 10 episodes of Dora the Explorer for that much, ;) it seems hard to imagine paying more than that.

the problem with team sales is no one wants to commit until after the kids perform... if they hit yeah, great but if they don't... well we will wait until next time. If your child is on a level 5 and goes on late it's hard to orchestrate a team buying endeavor in that short of a time frame.
I like the idea of the USB... with high def.... at a good price.
I guess for you video guys trying to figure that out will be the challenge! Good luck
Yes... but I'm up for the challenge! :)

We hear that comment quite often and 100% understand... we have online and after event sales quite often from teams that did well late in the day.... as well as coming back the second day of a two day competition to order the first day since the team did better... I'd do the same thing. :)

We have looked into delivery on USB... but the cost of the blank USBs is prohibitive (and, as a business, you can't just get some cheap knock-offs that may or may not work well.... and then unload them on your customers...) We are looking at online and "cloud" pay per view or subscriptions.

Thanks for the feedback!

SEVideo - thanks for allowing us to provide feedback. Everyone has already said the reasons why we would rather record our own teams performance - price and the lack of "instant gratification". I have always said that I would have no issues paying another $10 per registration fee if I got a video and a picture CD. I would think that $5 for every single competitor would at least equal if not improve your profit margin, particularly if you could just upload the videos on-line and allow for download with a password and athlete registration #. If you have a guaranteed payment then you wouldn't have to worry about people "stealing" your videos. I think with today's technology, you are facing an uphill battle unless you partner with each EP and work out an arrangement where you have a guaranteed payment. As a side note - the ipads need to be banned from priority seating, but this is an EP issue!

I agree... when you see mass produced DVDs in a discount store for $5-$10 it kind of sets the bar for expectations of what all DVDs should cost. We have a price point for team orders that is $14 and includes an entire division... an hour or two of video... but there again is the issue of someone on the team taking the reigns to organize it. (and DON'T ask the coach to do it! ) :)

First ... THANK YOU! As a professional "guy with a camera" I am appalled at the lack of consideration iPad owners (and I am sorry for the generalization..) have for anyone around them.

The idea of, what we call "Disc for All", (although disc will soon be the same as VCR tape) is something that we have explored... most event hosts are hesitant to raise their registration fees even $10... it's that "cost" thing again! :)

You've got great points and ideas... Thanks!

I will add that our current gym also attends CheerPower events which gives a free DVD of the performance to every athlete. It's provided to the coaches after awards. So I currently know I'll have 3 DVDs of cp's team by the end of the season.

A little bit of last nights lime ladies practice! Thank you everyone for your support and excitement! We are wishing everyone SAFE and fun practices! Enjoy these last few weeks, because all of us have worked so hard to get where we are!

Am I the only one that was like "there's so many groups in the air"...then clued into the mirror. I'm off to get coffee and get a grip on my morning.
