Lawd please let America watch this and learn that NFL dancers aren't cheerleaders.

They hosted one of their fake competitions in my area, invited local studios and basically told them it was a privilege to be shown on TV and they would be "scored" as seen fit ( meaning ALDC would win). It was highly expensive to go watch from what I remember.

I think the fight was because "Beyoncé" was bugging out over her daughter being pulled from the battle group and only doing field show.
BTW her dp is a beautiful dancer but seems to be a better fit for contemporary.
On TrashTalkTV someone made a comment asking if this was All Star cheer....smh

True, but the near-fight in the trailer is what got me:

No shade to you or anything...but their "near" fight caused you to call them "ratchet" however the multiple fights (verbal or physical) on Dance Moms never result in those moms being called "ratchet".

But why not have the conversation? It's a fact that the dance moms have been acting a royal fool for several seasons, and not once been called ratchet. But the moment the black women get on tv and argue they gotta be ratchet. Why?
Even though I agree with @HeresAThought about what lifetime was trying to do, I still watched the show and really like it. I was never a dance moms fan, but "bring it", to me, at least seems pretty real. "We"don't do passive aggressive. It's stupid. So even though they argued, I could understand.
I also like that bring it is showing that there are many different types of dance. Down south being on the dance line is a very big deal. I'm loving that my daughters can see little girls that look like themself on tv.

I agree that it needs to be talked about. I just wasn't sure if this was the right place to do that. But I have not seen the show so I don't have much to contribute on that part of the conversation.

i stopped watching at the beginning of the downward spiral, but i hope the parents have saved enough money to pay for all the therapy their kids are going to need in the future.

I think I ordinarily would not have a problem with the show if it wasn't so apparent the intent of the show is FURTHER exploitation of dancers/people don't know better etc. But it is. TLC tried to same thing and failed with cheerleading....southern people and clogging and then the "black" dance studio in Atlanta. So it seems like Lifetime is finding a possible successor to Dance Moms in this show, and its apparent that people won't be able to decipher that this (like Dance Moms) is no real indication of the reality of the competitive dance world...and then you throw in the fact that its an ALL BLACK studio...so everything they do automatically becomes further scrutinized and in the end is labeled "ghetto" and "ratchet" and the moms have been called "hoodrats" and every other variation of those words. To me "ghetto", "ratchet", and "hoodrat" have such negative connotations. When I see people online and in real life talk about that show and solely use those words to describe the moms, BUT in the same breath only say that Kelly/Christy/Holly/Jill etc are just "crazy" and brush it off, it becomes apparent that they're doing it just based on race... Whether they are cognizant that they're doing it or not.

So I just want no parts of it. I'm sure it could possibly be a great show, I'm sure I'd possibly enjoy seeing some of the dance (but I don't know, maybe not because I also don't like seeing children gyrating and thrusting like that...and yes I found an issue with it on DM when Asia did it). I might watch snips of her here and there...but I just cant commit to watching it knowing the backlash they're going to receive and why.

Its like how people call the Real Housewives of Atlanta ratchet...but the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills just has "drama"... um...its the same beasts, same behaviors...just different cities.

Melissa isn't ridiculous? She's the craziest person on the show.

They do still attend real competitions, because we get invited on the regular to go to their meet and greets at competitions. But they're too far so it's never anything we're going to. I don't know about filming, but I think they film before and after at real competitions (but not during).

I love Jill. I want to be Jill when I grow up.

I love Jill too. I remember the eps where she was the only mom in the crowd doing gangnam style during awards and I knew she was my spirit animal.

Guaranteed if the walking dead had an all black cast, but same exact writing, what happened this week with that lady killing the kid would be labeled all sorts of things.... It's the nature of the beast I guess. So at this point I just look for things that aren't offensive to me personally (love and hip hop, etc offend me. Seriously) and try to support what I can.

And to bring this back to dance moms: has abby herself ever danced? Like she talks to those kids all kind of crazy, but can she leap?

Abby danced until she was like 14 and then decided she was a better choreographer because she didn't have the body for dance (or something ) so that's when she started her own company

I don't call the moms on DM crazy...I call them trashy. Every last one of them with their potty mouths and offensive talk. I don't care if you're black, white, Asian, Indian or whatever, behavior like what these moms display is nothing short of trashy and classless. As a matter of fact, the ONLY mom that has any class whatsoever on DM is Holly. She is the best role model for her baby girl.

Abby on the other hand is straight up crazy and should not be allowed to work with children...ever!!! Verbally abusive is putting it mildly.
