why though? what makes you say this? how much do you know about Allstar cheer gym expansions to even say what would be best? just trying to get where youre coming from...

I judged off other expansions that have happened recently and typically they are pretty close to the main gym and they gradually get further and further away.

Examples - Cali taking over AZ, neighbouring states. WC taking over Rocket Elite, neighbouring states.
TX and NC aren't exactly neighbouring! I guessed it would be closer, thats all.

(P.s feel free to let me know of across the country expansions - I've only been following cheer for 2 years ish so believe me that there's lots I don't know from pre 2011!)

itll be interesting to see how many people leave CEA for CA these next few years. i cant imagine it being a dramatic difference, maybe for the youth teams but, concerning level 5 i just cant see a lot of level 5 CEA kids leaving. i dont know much about CEA program but they seem to have a lot of history with their athletes, and i cant see them just leaving for another big name gym. just like if it was the other way around i cant see a lot of level 5 athletes from CA leaving for CEA if they came to texas..

Honestly, that was my first thought as well. If CA was going to expand out of Texas, they'd probably go to one of the surrounding states rather than hop halfway across the country. But I was discussing it with a few people, and CA likes to have a lot of competition in their own backyard. Texas is good because they don't have to travel too far for quality competition. Same with NC. It makes sense when you think about it that way, but most gym expansions are regional.

This makes a lot of sense, and might have just answered all my "Why NC" questions. Hahah!

I don't know if it's that they don't like to travel or that there is no necessity to do so with the number of quality competitions in the DFW area.

True. In any case, NC is similar in that regard.

I think you'll see a lot of previous athletes but my hope is they also attract new kids to the sport!

I certainly hope so too! But i still have a feeling that if new families wanted to join (that new nothing of any drama or about worlds teams anything like that completely new) wouldn't they have done so already? What is going to make Cheer Athletics appeal that little bit more?

I feel like if i was a new cheer parent I'd choose the gym that has been around the longest. As I'd have no clue who CA are!

I'm sure being the gym that they are and having the reputation they have, they would of researched this but I'm just trying to work out how Charlotte came about, compared to towns/states that have very little gyms.

*my opinions do not reflect that of the gym in my name, I'm just curious.

Just a couple that come to mind... Midwest opened a Florida location I believe. Fame from VA has a NY location. ACE crosses many states in the south. In regards to Cali...it's a large very long state. The distance from one gym to the next is a couple states for most people. So in their case sometimes sharing a border makes little to no difference in the travel time from one program to the other. I could probably travel from my location at the beach to our NY location faster than I could get from the top of Cali to the bottom.

Will the only real competition all 4 CA gyms be at be NCA and worlds/summit then? Or does this mean CA as a program will travel more?

Very true!
Did all these gyms you mentioned expand into neighbouring states and then make a big move if you know? (genuine question)

I have seen a lot that the distance/time between the CA locations in Texas is quite large, so could be the same as some gyms going out of state I guess!

As far as Fame goes. We have six gyms currently in the Virginia/NC area:
Virginia Beach
Midlothian
Central
Roanoke
Valley
OBX

Valley and OBX being the two newest additions beginning next season. NY opened shortly after Central which was a six state jump north for us. So yes and no to answer your question. Yes we expanded regionally first...but never outside the state, then jumped to NY.

*sidenote: sorry to hijack the thread for a moment, was just answering the question. :)

Can my niece come live with you? She wants to be point flyer, last pass and win a ring.

She's at home doing crunches as I type this.
