This is not directed at any other gym. We are not trying to hurt anyone else's business.

We have had a great relationship with other world-class programs in Texas despite being in each others' backyard. It is possible. We will do our best to try to build that same type of relationship with the gyms in North Carolina.

im not a business-population-ologist, but TX has a population of 26.5 million and NC has a population of 9.8 million. there are ~3x as many people in your backyard.

Competition is good for the consumer.

up to a point. if big competition eats up lots of small competition, then you are then left with only a couple of choices. lack of choice isn't always good for the consumer, as you might end up having to pick from a couple of things that you might not be completely satisfied with.

Just a couple that come to mind... Midwest opened a Florida location I believe. Fame from VA has a NY location. ACE crosses many states in the south. In regards to Cali...it's a large very long state. The distance from one gym to the next is a couple states for most people. So in their case sometimes sharing a border makes little to no difference in the travel time from one program to the other. I could probably travel from my location at the beach to our NY location faster than I could get from the top of Cali to the bottom.

9 hours and 30 minutes (585 miles) from Rochester, NY to Va Beach, VA.
To the Outer Banks Gym (which I believe is the farthest south) is 11 hours 50 minutes (715 miles) from Rochester.

13 hours 20 minutes (850 miles) from Crescent City, CA (North CA) to San Diego, CA.

So yes the State of California is huge when considering expansion.

Businesses expand to where they believe they will thrive.
Wegmans Grocery Store started in Rochester, NY and has since expanded to parts of the East Coast.
There are locations way closer to Rochester and in Eastern NY that are Wegmans-less, yet there are places 6 states away with one. They expanded to places they knew they could thrive in.

I'm never going to understand the bitterness toward a program for opening close to something else. Owning a business is great, but it doesn't give you "dibs" on the surrounding areas. Competing companies opening close to one another is BUSINESS. It's what drives the economy. There's streets on my hometown with a Walgreens on one corner and a CVS on the other. As someone stated before, competition is great for the consumer.

Keep your customers happy and you have nothing to worry about.

We have a Rite Aid next to a Rite Aid... Like I kid you not, their entrances are right next door and they are two different stores.

Back in my hometown, there is a Walgreens and a CVS right across from each other. I typically go to CVS, but occasionally walgreens because they have other stuff.

In NYC alone, we have CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, and Duane Reade (which is TECHNICALLY now owned by Walgreens, but not really). Often times right across from each other. Nobody died.

When I was a little kid I literally could not grasp why every McDonald's did not have a Burger King across the street from it.

I would have my parents get my burger from BK and fries from McDonald's. I like my choices.

I'm convinced hot salty mcdonalds fries are one of mankind's greatest gifts to humanity.

I guess we should have ~3x as many gyms in Texas as we do in NC.
you were right.. with a bit of luck, since cheer is big in tx as it is in nc. :D however, population isnt always correlated to number of gyms. ny and fl have similar populations (20 million), yet fl has 3x as many all star gyms. hopefully this is up-to-date :help:...

Yes but TExas is over 268000 square miles, North Carolina is 48000, so the NC population is quite a bit more concentrated.

that's not necessarily true, especially given tx terrain. the western half is mostly pure desert and has a very low population. the eastern half, which is about the size of NC is where most of the population is concentrated.

I actually fully expected to see people driving by checking it out. Nothing but a couple of 18 wheelers and a Jimmy Johns delivery.

Looks like a great location though! Back off busy road tucked away in a business park. There looked to be gated parking on the side which was nice. And only minutes away from the interstate and a big mall. Super convenient! (and I was able to casually swing by on my way home from the gym, which was pretty freakin cool.)

Congrats again, CA!
