One of the reasons I started this thread is to people to recognised some of the really good gyms and teams out there. also Im not a fan of cheerleb culture and a few cheerleaders have inspired me but do I follow them and stalk on social media those individulas no. But I do look at team videos of the teams I really like

@Meagan haha very true. I watch a video and watch the team I rarely watch just one person. But there are times when I see something really cool that one person does. I may or may not ask who that person is. But I won't go looking for that person because I wouldn't no where to start.

Yeah, I do look at individuals social media's because it's awesome to see what other contribute to their team but as all star cheer is growing popular so is advertisement on cheerlebs.

I think there will always be cheerlebs, its inevitable. There are celebrities in every sport! Does that make it right? No, not necessarily, but there will always be a favorite. What should be more comforting about the situation is that there are "celebrities" in every sport!

Sure, at the professional or collegiate level. Allstar is basically a recreational activity with participants who are (largely) minors. I can't really think of anything similar in that sense.

I dont know....The same can be said about the dance world. There are youtube channels that only post videos of some dancers that have "celebrity" status in the dance world (and no I am not referring to the dance moms girls) the thing with dance though is that I find most of the dance celebrities out there most times even younger then cheerlebs. These girls are 7-10 years old and there are tumblr pages, instagram fan accounts and youtube channels dedicated to them.

I agree! My boys have been playing baseball for years. One of them played on his high school team with the child of an ex-professional player...his dad is still a face/name that is regularly on television. The kid is a talented and heavily recruited athlete. Most youth/high school baseball players around the country would be clueless as to who he is...on my son's local select team, few of them would recognize his name or face. I guarantee you that he doesn't have any fan Instagram pages. Cheerleader worship is bizarre.

I do too sometimes. I don't know people's twitter and I would not know how to find them.

If you search up their name they pop right up lol. And hey nothing wrong with working hard. More power to all these cheerleaders. I just don't remember cheerlebs in my hay day.
Oh yes I would that if I had someone in mind but I was thinking more the ones I don't know their name or don't know much about.

Here is one of the tumblrs:: Mini Dancers
Same ideas as what takes place with the cheerlebs.....privacy means a big deal to a lot of parents on here and people get upset if you post pictures of a minor or any last names, but I do not see parents in the dance world complaining about this and their kids are really little!!!!

Like it, love to, or hate it the popularity of cheerlebrities is growing. I have even seen/heard the move to change what people call, label, or refer to cheerlebrities as, but that is just semantics. Recently saw a Dad stunting his very young daughter on TV (maybe about 2 years old). She already has her own Instagram.......

TBH, not a fan of the culture it's turning into and I hope my CP never becomes one.

I couldn't care less about cheerlebrities, really. Ironically, I actually get all of my cheerlebrity gossip/information from the board.

My only other issue with this is with the "baby cheerlebrities." You know, the kids who are Y2 or Mini 1 and have social media accounts.

Chelsea Cheetah is a cheerlebrity and on some level, she chooses to partake in that by selling bows, promo, etc. via Instagram. She has made that choice on her own because she is 16/17 and controls/selects what is posted.

On the other hand, Molly Mini whose mother sets up social media accounts, posts pics, does giveaways, videos, etc. did not choose that. She is 4. This is all orchestrated by a parent.
