Forgive the derailment, but I had a girl I studied abroad with ask me when we were outside the Anne Frank house in Amsterdam if "Anne Frank died recently" .. because she was confused why there was such a long line to get in. "

Mind you this is after she had said a few days earlier in our class that she had to read the book when she was younger in school and found the story "so inspiring"....

truthfully the most *uhhhhh* moment of my life

LOL a girl in my drama class thought that Anne Frank was also someone who died recently! And then she thought that it was a girl in our school.

What's funny was that our whole grade did a case study on World War 2 and we focused on Anne Frank

ETA: Sorry @Weezy I didn't see your message! I'll go on that thread now

Just saw this posted on instagram. It sounds like they moved someone up from within the program.

"Actually all 5 of smoeds flyers have spikes ... I kno because i cheer there and there new flyer is very talented are hard working she competed on aces last year and is already doing a great job"

We don't believe them because of their grammar. -_-

Kidding. It's nice to see they pulled from within. I can't wait to see their routine this year.

I hate to comment on this thread because I actually have little knowledge of the team this year but, again, I will say that pulling from within our gym is always the first move!

And if it's the girl I'm thinking of that has been put on the team, congrats to her! She is an amazing kid from a nice family and deserves it.

:)

does pulling from the las vegas gym count as "from within?" it's better than pulling a kid from a gym in NJ, for example, but it's still across a state line with a crazy commute or move for the child. oh well, I'll be quiet and look forward to their debut.

That is still pulling from the program in my eyes.

I believe a few of the kids who were on the Ventura gym R5 also cross competed on Aces last year. My guess is she is one of them (and Ventura was her home gym)

Within the system.....

Same thing as me getting a job at another library in this system...and internal hire. Either way its better than putting out an APB for a flyer with bows on both legs, a spike, and a whip double that can come from anywhere in the land.

General statement and off topic and not aimed towards CALI, but unless the different locations want to be treated as separate programs for other purposes. I have seen programs with different locations compete a location in the small gym division, but use crossovers from their main gym location. I never understood why this was legal. If USASF ever does decide to do a DI/DII, this will become an interesting issue.

if it's the girl I think it is, she's from Ventura gym. :)

I think if USASF moves in the DI/DII division realm, stricter rules will come down on crossovers and program versus gym...etc, to stop double dipping. Not to say there won't be loopholes around it, because frankly, there will always be some way to get around it---but I do think they'd try to limit it to a certain degree.

Unless they have separate tax ID's for the two gym, they shouldn't have qualified for the small gym division based on the fact that they have 2 locations, regardless of the number of athletes at either or both locations.

I am sure they do have separate tax id's - that is the loophole. You can share the name, the reputation, the coaching staff, the ownership and apparently the athletes, all under the guise that you are a "separate entity" because of the tax id#.

I would assume they would have separate ID's because combining in multiple locations is a PITA; and if it franchies out, you know it's different ID's.
