My Cp stayed up till midnight studying for her math test and I just picked her from school and she was heart broken, she failed the test, we are hating Common Core Math! Can't be upset with her because I know she tried really hard, at least her teacher said she could do some extra credit.

My stepkid came home this week with several 0% math tests and a whole lot of tears.

Just showed CP and she said that was her life!! lol This morning when she left from school she was so confident that she was going to do well
It really is the worst feeling when they believe they know and understand the material in class and while doing homework and then they walk out of a test feeling hopeless. Does the teacher have any extra help time your cp could go to? Sometimes they give them bonus points just for attending that.

My CP is actually in a special Math program at her school, she has regular Math and she also has a year round Math elective, you have to qualify for it(they look for kids that get honor roll on other subjects but are not excelling in Math like their other subjects) in the math elective the teacher goes over homework and helps them as much as possible, she also has a tutorial period were kids can go to any class that they are struggling in and get extra help from their teachers, her math teacher is so great, she told the kids not to get discouraged and she also told them that she might curve the test since everyone struggled with it. Her math teacher wrote a fraction rap and raps it for the kids, it's so funny and she is one of the best teacher she has ever had, not sure what to do from here, besides letting her know that sometimes even when you try things don't work out the way you think. I know she has her mind set on getting an A or B on her report card for math so she is just going to have to push harder.

Have you tried another teacher/tutor? Sometimes, even though the main teacher could be great, other people explaining things in different ways can make things just "click" when they weren't before. I don't know your situation, but even an older sibling or parent explaining it from their perspective can help :)
