I hate needles. Not so much needles I guess as the idea of something protruding into my veins. I don't even like when other people (or myself) touch my wrists/forearms BC all I can think about is all the blood that goes through there lol. It just completely disgusts me, I could never be a nurse or something. I've gotten a tattoo and lots of piercings- neither of which bother me in the slightest

The first time I got a piercing (which was like 3 years ago - triple forward helix) I stayed up the entire night before and after thinking how disgusting it was that I had metal sticking through me. Even putting my ear lobe piercings in creep me out. My ear lobes are my last piercing I will ever get.

Def can understand that. I don't know why it doesn't bother me! I could never get a tattoo on my wrists (or a piercing if that was a thing) though for sure. Everytime I've gotten a piercing (and tattoo actually) has been completely on impulse so maybe not having an opportunity to think about it has something to do with it haha

ive always wanted to get my ears pierced but have been terrified of getting it done (im 27, lol) and still cant get myself to get it done. i think ive made myself paranoid, i always hear how bad it is to get it pierced at places like in a mall because of sanitation issues, etc. , but seeing people get theirs done professionally at a piercing parlor looks way more terrifying.

Ear lobes are not even painful IMO. I got mine done at the mall 2 months before my 21st birthday and it was a walk in the park. It hurt for like 5 minutes after I got it done and by "hurt" I mean my earlobes felt a little hot. It's less painful than a papercut!

can I use spray paint indoors? it should be a quick project and i'd have to wait a month or two if I want to do it outside and not get frostbite... will I get high or set off the fire alarms?
We have spray painted projects in the garage (doors open) without issue. Small ones, like a science fair board or a shoe box.

Two of dh's floormates in college spray painted one of their walls bright orange. It definitely left everyone a little woozy for several hours.

When people are scared usually their blood sugar drops. It's quite common that's why I said sugar ..but thanks;)
I'm not trying to be argumentative, but I am pretty sure it's blood pressure that drops, not sugar (and it's not usually, but rather unusual - and causes dizziness and fainting). I've never heard of blood sugar dropping (even through nursing school, and I feel like they would have mentioned it) I also think @Twinklestars is an RN, so I am sure she knows what people need when they are about to faint from a needle prick.

(maybe I'm wrong, I'm just going on what I learned in school)

I pass out if I ever have to have fasted blood work. So my sugar is already low and then the blood pressure drop. It's in my file now and the tech usually just throws a sugar cube on my tongue when she's finished.

I don't have a fear of needles at all, though - I actually enjoy them when it comes to tattoos lol, so maybe my reaction is different than others. I don't learn how to take blood until next semester, but I'd agree that blood pressure would be the problem, not sugar.

I'm finally back from having no free time at all. Free day today and catching up on FB. What did I miss? :D

I did buy plane tickets and everything in the meanwhile so I'm officially going to watch worlds!

This thread just reminded me that I haven't been to the eye doctor in over 12 years.

I also don't mind needles but I don't prefer them either. I got my ears pierced at 3 or 4. My parents didn't allow us to get them done until we asked. I remember hollering. A lot.

I won't argue lol it was a doctor and nurse who told me this when I was in nursing school and also when I passed out from getting a blood test. That's why they give you juice to bring your blood sugar up. I have a continuous glucose monitor so I see my blood sugars updated every 5 minutes on a receiver from a sensor I wear and I've given blood and seen my blood sugar drops a bit because I'm not a fan of getting it done and definitely depends on the person doing it. Obviously blood sugar checks don't make me go low because I'm used to them and do them all the time so I don't know about blood sugar dropping them but anyways.

A Dunkin with no drive thru? That's crazy! I've never heard of that. I prefer Starbucks coffee over Dunkin though so.... (Am I allowed to say that in New England?) but the real me is trying to ween myself off of coffee and force myself to like tea. It's not going too smoothly.
The area I usually go to for shopping has a Starbucks and Dunkin across the street from each other, and neither has a drive thru. There's 3 Starbucks now in that town ( that one, one in Target and the Starbucks Cafe in Barnes and Noble) and none of them have a drive thru. The struggle with that one is real.

Does anyone know if there are any gyms that will have people selling shirts at NCA this year? In 2010 there was a lady that sold Stingray shirts, but that's been a while back. I'm just curious if anyone is still doing that.

just read that Oregon's A & T team lost a teammate this week due to meningitis. so awful! such an unexpected death. prayers to her family and team! but also how terrifying! It spreads so easily and teams are together so much. The news article said the university was giving the entire team preventative antibiotics just in case... but I can't even imagine. so sad.
