Hi guys :)
Okay so for competition, my team usually has curled half ups. All last season I could
NOT get my hair to stay all nice and curly, by the time I got to performance time they had fallen out and I only had end curls. My hair is long but not extra long so it shouldn't be falling. I use the infinity wand by conair and I've tried every hairspray possible!

How do you guys get your hair to stay nicely for competitions if you had curled hair? What kind of hairspray do you use? Any other tips? Pictures?

Thanks,
Dakota:)

When my hair was long, I had a similar problem. My mom actually found me a quarter inch barrel curling iron. It makes my curls super spirally at first but when it was time to compete they have dropped into nicer curls. My favorite hairspray for competition is Got-2b-glued. It comes in a yellow can that looks like a boat horn.

Suave extra hold hairspray (smells nasty even though its unscented) is the best spray the strand then wrap it around the wand (be sure you are using the highest heat setting) leave it on the wand until the entire strand is hot to the touch (avoid burning fingers!) the release it and spray some more hairspray. Then once I'm done I usually spray the entire head with herbal essences tousle me softly just to hide the smell of the suave hairspray (its so gross but your hair will be perfect!)

My cp has waist length hair and a ton of it- we use herbal essance hair spray- i use a regular curling iron- break hair into small sections - spray hair spray- then wrap it onto the curling iron- wait for hair to smoke- unwind carefully -respray. her hair lasts all day and sometimes into the night. The curling iron makes barrel curls that all look perfectly uniform in size. total curl time- 45 minutes.

What I do is curl a section and then bobby pin it. after I have done my whole head then I spray with hairspray. I leave them in at least 2o-30 minutes and then take them down. My hair stayed curled the whole time. I have thick long hair.

I use curlformers... seriously, they are the best thing ever. I take a shower the night before, put your hair in the desired position, then put the curlers in when your hair is still wet, so it can dry when you sleep. wake up, take them out.. spray em, and your good for the entire day :) They make extra long and wide ones, which work very well with my hair - the entire strand gets in there and there is sooo much more room if ya need it! i use this crazy hairspray, it feels like concrete but it works. its called got to be glued blast freeze spray. its in a yellow can with a gray spray top. :) make sure you get the can! hope it helps!

me, i know its not cheer, but this was the result of curlformers :) they are so freakin easy to use haha!

Make sure your hair is second day hair! If it's freshly washed, your hair might be too slippery to hold the curl.

Well, my coach just uses what she calls "Glue" We use 1/2 a bottle of hair spray per girl, then 1/4 bottle of EXTRA strong hair spray. My hair doesn't move. I'll try to find out what kind of hair spray, but it makes your hair not move! It helps keep it from un-curling.

use AquaNet if you can find it! my mom swears by it and I've never had my hair fall out. apparent they used it in the 80's to hold their big hair haha.

I make my kids wear sponge rollers... Less fuss! Takes about 15 min to roll and stays for days!

Toward the end of last season, my friend and I said that we'd curl our hair for one competition, and when we won it was kind of a superstitious thing, but we curled our pony tails for the rest of the season. I prefer my curls to look tapered, or wider at the top than bottom. I use a wand to get the 'tapered' look. I use 2 hairsprays, and these seem to be the absolute ONLY hairsprays that hold my super thick & long hair's curls. The ones I use are 'it' super hold (in a gold can) & rave (in silver can with a teal cap). The rave is the better of the two, and was recommended by my mom's hair dresser. It's such a strong hold that you have to wash your hair twice to get it completely out, lol. hope this helps!
