Who cares if she's replying to her own thread in the Newbie section to get her three posts in? That's partially what it's for.

Can you imagine what would happend if every newbie would open a new theard for that 3 posts they have to do?

Imagining it... and wishing I hadn't. I now have a never ending thought of pointless threads that just keep popping up in the "what's new" section with newbies having conversations with themselves just to get those 3 posts done and over with.....

I've debated removing the newbie section from 'what's new'

Sometimes a thread gets posted that the seasoned posters like to chime in on. Plus it gives us the opportunity to anticipate some crazy booty thread or post coming down the line.
