So at my tumbling gym, a girls cat had kittens. I want one of the kittens, it idk if my parents will let me take him. I feel like if I took one of the kittens I would be doing the right thing and taking in a animal that needs help. How can I convince my parents that a cat would be a great addition to our home and that we would be doing to right thing?

Have you even asked your parents yet? How do you know they'll say no. Present the idea to them with a positive spin, about how these kitties need places to go and you feel like you could provide a loving and caring home for them

No I haven't asked them. I get afraid of aski g them because I don't want them to just say NO. I want them to hold the kittens and see how loving they are before I ask them...

As from my own experiance, I know you can better ask them then just coming home with one...
Have a talk with them and explain how it's a great way for you to learn to take responsibilities. dont just tell them you'll be feeding the cat, cleaning it's litterbox and taking it to the vet but if they agree also show you will hold on to your responsibilities!
A cat can be really cute and give you lots of love, but dont forget that it also brings alot of work, just petting it wont keep it alive.
Taking care of a cat is a big responsibility, but a very rewarding one too.
So dont hesitate and just talk to your parents. Take time to explain why you want one and how you'll take care of it. Allow them some time to think it over and who knows you'll soon be able to call yourself a cat-owner!

I do know how to take care of animals. I have a chinchilla and a yorkie. Lol. I think they will say no, just flat out no. But I feel guilty because I want to help the kittens.

Cats are predators, chinchillas are prey. It would probably be very stressful (if not cruel) for your chinchilla if you added a cat to the house.

You have a really big heart, OP! I know that you really want to bring a kitten in, but I really don't think that will work with a chinchilla. Going from 2 to 3 pets is a lot to handle. You MUST ask your parents first, I get really nervous to ask about things as well but it feels so good to get it over with. If they say no, then thats okay, you can still love over the kittens while they are at the gym. Good luck!

A kitten raised around a chinchilla will learn its not prey so that wouldn't be as big of a problem as you think.
Here's a better idea..you can contact one of the rescue groups in your area and volunteer to "foster" kittens. It will teach you how to take care of even the littlest ones, helps make happy kittens, AND you can put it on any college application for volunteer experience!
BTW I want to go to a gym that gives a free kitten when you tryout...lol

There is a humane society in my county (Dawson county, Georgia. It's about 25 min form cumming). I never knew I could put it on my college application (I want to go to oxford in England for medical school....so anything that I can put on my application is great!) My parents (I love them to death) just shut down stuff like this before I can even explain what I'm trying to do. My dad had a cat and loved his cat a lot, so don't think he would be super opposed to us having a cat, its just the litter box, food, etc. I just am afraid of asking, because I don't want them to just flat out say "no".

I don't know how old you are, and what kind of "disposable income" you might have, but maybe offer to pay for the food and litter. And don't wait for them to say no to that before you offer. Go into it with the, "If I'm willing to help out with the finances of the kitten, would you be willing to consider "adopting" it?" kinda line.
