Although the OP sounds like it might be starting drama, I don't think you guys would after this parent had it not been mentioned that the CP was at a "reputable" gym

Disagree. I think we would have asked all the same questions, particularly if their gym had a refund policy in writing to which they agreed to abide by.

I would have. Even small gyms have no refund policies. And quite frankly I would have been even more likely to side with some no name small gym because they reeeeeally don't have money just sitting around to give refunds. As soon as parents pay that money goes to vendors and EP's.

Btw, reputable doesn't mean big, famous, well known, or worlds winning. It means "held in good repute ; honorable; respectable" - which could apply to anyone.

Did you not see the "Get This!" thread??? I still, to this day, have absolutely no earthly clue what gym that was about and we climbed all over bama guy like white on rice for starting that drama.

Maybe the only way this thread could have turned out differently is if NO gym name was mentioned or alluded to and OP asked for our experiences in this situation. But she didn't and I agree with @CheerBank, I believe the same questions would have been asked, but in the case of a gym not being referenced there would have been no way for us to research a policy.

And, let's face it, we can smell rotten tea a mile away..

As @MissBee mentioned no-refund policies are very typical for most youth sports - so not like this is something unique to cheer.

Sigh. So typical. Of course @happy cheerleader joined just for the sole purpose of starting this thread...and now she's gone. I hope at least someone at WC gives her what for, just for even posting it. :starwars:
I don't believe she got the response she intended. And I'm from a "rival" gym to WC and would've said exactly the same thing if they were from Podunk Allstars.

If posted the story behind my daughter choosing to leave, that is one thing. Making it public that I asked several times for a refund and did not even get a response is another. This is info so another family is not in my situation.

But really that is not what you are doing.
You are just complaining and not giving facts as to why you are leaving. I am very surprised that a gym like World Cup would not have sometime of agreement or document you sign. You say you do not know the return policy - perhaps that is something you should have checked before airing your dirty laundry here.
You may have a legitimate complaint but you certainly present as someone out to drag World Cup through the mud on a public cheer board because your angry not in anyway to "protect" other people. At least be honest that you are mad and trying to get back at them publicly rather than try to make this about protecting others. There is no way your info (or lack there of) is protecting another family and it certainly does not present you in anyway as someone's opinion I would trust based on the fact that you do not even know the policy of a gym you say you have been at for more than a year based on this thread. I am not saying you are not owed money or that nothing happened but you really have made a poor choice in how you have handled this and perhaps your lawyer should talk to you about how this could certainly come back on you if you do go a legal route....

Okay I am going off my FAVORITE conspiracy theory: the board teenager. Said board teenager likes to get the cheer parents in an uproar and knows our triggers well. Such as 3 YO BHS (lord knows how long that one will go) and now this one :). I actually prefer the thought of some CPs getting together and lets watch the grown ups go nuts and start a thread with a newbie. FAR better than the possible of the reality that there are simply people this dumb out there procreating.

No did not sign anything. I was a good customer

I remember a case a long time ago on Judge Judy , the parents wanted their money back for tuition and clothes frm a cheer gym. They had paid upfront and left the gym. They won and got a full refund because they had not received any thing from the gym and she said you cant keep money for services not given. So keep pushing them. Just because its cheer no one can make their own laws.

AND the contract was invalid because both parties didnt sign it and the gym didnt give the family a copy of the signed contract.

No matter what the size of the gym or how well known........putting it on FB will NOT help the situation at all. It will not make the gym say OMG I need to pay her because she told other people in the sport. the opposite will happen and make the parent look bad, especially when the policy is there for all to read.
