Desiree Andrews is an eighth grader and cheerleader at Lincoln Middle School in Kenosha, Wisconsin. During a boys’ basketball game at the school, Andrews, who has down syndrome, was being picked on by some fans in the stands. Three of the players on the team noticed the teasing and weren’t going to stand for it. Miles Rodriguez, Scooter Terrien and Chase Vazquez immediately walked off of the court — during the game — and told the bullies to stop.

Since the game, Andrews and the boys have become friends and according to TMJ in Milwaukee, she never walks to class alone anymore. The gym has also been dubbed “D’s House” ever since — a tribute that Andrews called “sweet, kind, awesome, amazing.”
