You know, my cp did ask me to put a bow on top of the tree, rather than the star...

Our tree at my parent's house had a big bow on the top instead of a tree topper for a few years!

I let the kids do all the decorating of the tree. This is our first real tree and it is the FIRST Christmas that my son has ever asked about Santa and the tree and lights so it is a special one to us. He is so excited and i'm excited for him
