thanks and i do we talk every day about it she flys on a senior team so i always show her pics of true senior age flyers that are usually double her size the sad thing is that we are all short i am only 5 foot 1 so her chances of being tall like she dreamed of lol are pretty much gone and doc told her that based on her structure she will be lucky if she hits 4 foot 11 she wants to cheer for hpu or louiseville when its time for college and i dont want her to hate flying or to think she is too big because she loves it and has absolutely gorgeous flexibility and i have a cousin who is anorexic so i worry so much and will do whatever it takes to protect her thats for sure
All the college cheerleaders are short but strongly built! I think if she realizes that she is perfect for that, then she will be more happy with her size. I definetly recommend her talking to a specialist or counselor if this continues though. And talkign tot he coach about it might help too. The team could have a meeting about not making mean comments

this whole thread really scares me my cp is 12 and had her growth spurt early she is definetly the biggest flyer on her team however she is only 4 foot 9 and hasnt grown in over a year it just so happens the other flyers havent had their growth spurts and probably weigh no more than 60lbs recently with the high level stunts they have been doing it has gotten back to her that when they try new things and it doesnt hit immediately her group talks about her saying she is too big to fly and they wish they had one of the tiny girls so i have caught her calling herself fat and really not eating as much lately i have taken her to the doctor and spoke about the situation where doc tells her by no means at all is she overweight and that she is solid as a rock but i am so scared for her i am constantly monitoring her to make sure she eats she is so talented but doesnt understand that the muscle she has is because of all of the tumbling she works i mean she has specialty through to full standing through to full and multiple other tumbling skills but she doesnt seem to get it i just wonder how she is supose to hit her stunts when she knows her group is saying some pretty nasty things about her and the bad part is the parents of the kids have been caught saying the same stuff like how dare you as an adult i kind of want to show her this thread but at the same time dont know if its a good idea any thoughts????
glad i saw this, thanks Carla

this breaks my heart. she is so young. you definitely need to keep monitoring her and make sure her diet is the same as it has always been. i would also talk to the girls that are saying she is to big to fly, them saying this is going to make the situation worse and it NEEDS to stop! feel free to PM me if you need someone to talk to about it, i will be happy to help you and even talk to your daughter if you want. the things you have explained reminds me exactly of myself.

Oh heres some advice when you go to talk to her: don't make her into the "bad person" for doing these things. be the loving counselor and listen to how she feels and ask her why she feels that way. The worst thing you can do is yell at her and force her to eat. Try and make her understand why she needs to eat and not worry about the way others look or what they think. Anorexia gets worse because some girls are stubborn with the help they recieve.

Don't jump to conclusions about things she does too. Have some faith & trust in her, but watch her and let her know how much you care and feel about her. Best of luck <3 My mom saved my life the way she helped me through everything. If you want her advice, I'd love to give you her email or phone. Seriously, shes the best to ask.

PS: she was "sick" at the gym last night, does this have anything to do with it or was she really sick? we need to talk in private

a girl on my team had an eating disorder. she lost about 40 lbs and she barely ate. She did the atkins diet only a little more extreme (idk how much more extreme you could get) she lost about 15lbs in 8 days. she was about 115 to begin with idk why she went on a diet but ended up getting rushed to the hospital and almost died. her final weight was sickening and she looked terrible. now she is 110 and is happy with her self. sometimes i don't catch her eating but whenever she doesn't she goes to the counselor at her school. i hope no one ever goes through this, i almost lost a friend :/

@cheer36mom I would hesitate about showing her this thread. IF she is starting to develop disordered eating patterns, the mind can find inspiration to continue along this path and ignore the warnings. She might pick up on the stories of what people went through to get to the point they were skeletal, sick and finally got help, and ignore the parts where they talk about the impossible road to recovery and the devastating effects of the disease.

Big hugs to your and your baby girl. I hope it's not an eating disorder and just a cold, and if it is the former then you always have friends and strangers on this board to reach out to. You will never be alone in the struggle x.

i just wanted to say thank you to all of you for your kind words and help with understanding this situation i was able to speak to my cp tonight and she is definetly dealing with some major self esteem issues related to this whole situation and isnt taking care of herself the way she should be so we are working on making things better its not just a weight issue she thinks she is ugly which kills me beccause she is absolutely gorgeous and is always told that by others but she says it doesnt matter because she doesnt believe it when people tell her that so this situation definetly needs alot of attention but i will make sure she gets to where she needs to be thank you again so much i appreciate it more than you will ever know

but at times im still nervous, i dont really eat junk food anymore and that definitley helped me and calmed me down alot from worrying..

this thread makes me so sad. in my honest opinion i think the aspects that determine if you should fly is flexability. i personally give all my respect to rocket elite all stars. they have a method of "if youre flexiable you go up, and youll make it work, even if your base is smaller then you"....i agree with this so much. if its all age appropriate kids theres no reason why anyone cant go up
