I couldn’t sell it because of cost, but I can give you one good reason to do it...,

Match up against top teams in your division and see how you stack up. This is especially true if you’re trying to choose a nationals division.

For example, we have very few schools in the STATE of KY that qualify as DI in large and super large because of where UCA draws the line. Our school falls in between DI medium and DII large in terms of student population. So IF money wasn’t a barrier, and IF we had a history of being super close but not quite champions, and IF I was trying to choose divisions, and IF we had time to prepare both routines between comps, and IF we didn’t have to declare a division in KY on October 1, some 6 weeks before our in-state regional....I’d do it. Like Sheriff Andy Taylor would have said though, that’s “a lotta iffin.”

i couldn't justify it with the current set up for regionals as a qualifier. since it isn't placement based or limited to a certain number of teams that do qualify for nationals (which is how it should be), it doesn't make sense financially or competitively to go elsewhere for a UCA Regional.

I would think for a NE team it would be weird considering there are already options in regards to regionals in the area, you have Toms River, Empire, Pocono, etc. all driving distance (if somewhat far) for NY, NJ, PA teams. So I would think it would be hard to justify an even further regionals to parents.

Travel costs? For a scholastic team? No.

WAIT was the old MD coach the one that wouldn’t let anyone talk to him except the captains to cut down on BS? We’d heard he got fired and I just put two and two together literally right now.

I’d love to let those KY

As a KY coach, albeit one at a school with a still-developing program...I can assure you, none of us care.

Seriously we are all worried about our own bids.. some of the NE regionals are pretty tough and they don't give bids out like Halloween Candy in Tom's River!
