my gym is really big on jump kicks. We will do 3 sets of kicks for each jump (toe touch,pike ex) and then will do the jump three times in a row. It helps us train our jumps so we can do them well even when we are tired like in a routine.
 
My team is also big on the kicks, as well as doing jumps with 5 8 counts of squats in between to build strength and get them used to jumping with good technique even when they are tired! :)
 
We always sat in a straddle and did leg lifts on each side then in the center and also in a pike position. Starting with 5 of each then 8
 
I'm big on leg kicks but with a pause and swing through. They lift their leg rather than kick squeezing their muscles and learning what it's like . You can do them not holding on to soemthing or holding a t motion.
