Hard to explain but you sit in a straddle or pike and try to keep a straight spine woke pushing up your legs. Your hands should be on the ground and you should try 20-35 a day. I did and my jumps are way better !
 
I like to use ankle weights to gain strength in my hip flexers. I do the exercise @arispurplecheerkitty said with 3 pound ankle weights. It is also very important to stretch A LOT. I am not really that flexible and my jumps are level but now I have to start stretching to get the flexibility in my jumps that is lacking...
